Pentax F 35-70mm :
I did think about that one too, but the OP said that his 28-70mm wasn't wide enough. Personally I like the F 35-70mm as a walkabout lens, it gives you something close to the old 50mm at one end and a useful short telephoto at the other.

I'd say to go for the 18-55mm. It's the only lens I own wider than 28mm, and you can't beat it for the money.

I don't have much trouble with sensor dust. My K-m is set to self-clean when switched on and I follow the usual suggestions on lens changing (don't do it in a dust cloud, swap them quickly with the camera facing down, etc). Anything the sensor shaker doesn't catch can be removed with a rocket blower, which I always rest against part of the camera to remove the risk of it slipping and hitting the sensor.

A K-m/K2000 wouldn't have a battery charger anyway - it runs on AAs!

Mine came with the camera, 18-55mm, manual, a CD of software, assorted bits of paper and the USB cable.

I am slightly surprised that nobody seems to make vinyl "skins" for cameras, like the ones you can buy for MP3 players and similar.

Today was going to be the ME Super with winder and 40mm f2.8, then it started raining. I find B&W works better if it's cloudy as you concentrate on texture, but rain is a bit of a non-starter.

I also have an MX and KX that I use regularly, and a collection of other film bodies which see slightly less use.

I have one, I like it. It'd probably be a good one if your family includes people who need a simple point and shoot, as if you put it in green mode it just sorts everything out and produces very decent results.

I think if I was looking for a second body I would consider a K200D, the weather sealing does sound as though it'd make me a bit happier. I do a lot of outdoor shooting and it'd be nice not to have to worry about getting the camera wet. I chose the K-m as it was new, within budget, and had decent reviews.

I'm not sure about the video mode on the K-x, I have heard that video mode on DSLRs can harm the sensor if used for long periods?

I now use an MX, ME Super and KX as my main film bodies. I process the film in the time-honoured kitchen sink way and then scan the negatives to create JPGs, which works very well.

I can definitely see the 110 and APS SLR systems rising in value in the future. Not many were sold and they appear to be of limited interest at the moment.

With you on the 28mm f3.5 - why on earth did Pentax turn the f2.8 version into an A series rather than the f3.5? The slower lens is much better!

If I ever see the K series for sane money I'll probably snap it up, I have the M series but can always find space for more K series primes.
