One comment on that 50mm f1.4 from Canada - expect to be stung by Customs & Excise or whatever Her Majesty's Highwaymen are calling themselves this week.

It isn't the duty/VAT that stings so much as the outrageous "admin fee" imposed by Parcelfarce to collect it.

Well, I bought one. Great piece of kit. It does have an auto mode but it's the same as the old ME Super and AF160 - you set the aperture, ISO and shutter speed to the values the flash expects and the flash's own meter then sets the output to get the exposure right.

It should fit in a Lowepro Lens Case 4 for transport - I've measured the flash and ordered one on the basis of the internal dimensions listed on the Lowepro website.

Does anyone know what trigger voltage the current digital flashes output? That would be an obvious way to answer the question once and for all.

Pentax have never said that you can't use their own older flashes IIRC, and the AF240Z has a trigger voltage of between 7-8v. I therefore take that as my max safe voltage, as I have an AF240Z for compact on-camera external flash and a Metz 45CL-1 (6-7v) as the hammerhead monster.

I have a feeling it goes down, it must be denser than oxygen as it has a carbon molecule attached to it.

Randomly dumping buckets of water out of your bedroom window in the middle of the night should do wonders. Especially if you lace it with food dye or something equally messy yet harmless.

Completely OT: Why hasn't your car got any registration plates?
Removed for the photo maybe?

I always blank out numberplates before uploading any vehicle photos. There have been credible reports of criminals either cloning cars from photos on the web or tracking them down in order to steal them in the case of more desirable machinery.

Frankly the driver and the unfortunate track workers who had to clean up the mess are the only people I would have any sympathy for in the event of those idiots mistiming their jump and getting turned into strawberry jam.

Their stupidity ends careers. Skilled train drivers have had to leave their jobs due to PTSD brought on by one selfish idiot's game of "chicken".

Meanwhile in France any large public fountain/pool becomes an impromptu paddling pool on hot days...

I would dearly love to see the paperwork if you refused to stop dangling your feet in the water of a publicly accessible fountain and just sat there calmly refusing to move.

Yes, it should work exactly like a DA lens.

I know there have been some problems with some examples of this lens on DSLRs, these usually seem to be the black versions as opposed to the silver ones. This is a fault with the individual lens though rather than the system.

Pull the plug out? Or just forget to put more diesel in the generator?

I'd have thought the psychological warfare units would snap him up. Enemies would surrender within hours of him playing alleged music at full volume!
