I was attempting to shoot a duck sitting on a rock in the middle of the river, couldnt get a position i like with my Tripod so opted to hand hold.
With the Tripod i was getting f8 and a shutter speed of 400 @ iso 800.
When i removed it from the Tripod and turned SR on it dropped to a shutter speed of under 200.
Anyone any ideas why it does that?
Ive used Canon IS and Nikon VR lenses and never recalled them doing that when the IS or VR was switched on.

Looking at your K20D @ 800 iso tells me how bad mine really was.

People are saying useable Live View a Big Plus but other cameras had a very useable live view over a year ago.
HD - Old Tech Also now.
Higher Res LCD - Old Tech.
In all honesty if they want to shift these they will need to be priced around £700 max and even then i doubt many would move from the K20D.
My reasons for my opinions are these options have been available on other makes for about 8 months to 2 years now (certain options 8 months, others around 2 years now) and if they were an important option for you then you would have bought another System by now.

1st - I like the Focus on the foot and the shallower dof on the face.
2nd - Nothing wrong with it. I would leave the Text out though, thats ok if you are emailing it or printing it out for someone you care about but not for a forum, although in saying that i guess it does add a little emotion to it.
3rd - Im not averse to the Soft Focus Look on this one. I actually quite like it although a lighter background might have worked better either a complimentary one or contrasting one.
If you google Contrasting and Complimentary Colour charts it will give you some ideas.
4th - Not really my thing and i havent a clue what it is but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you like it thats the main thing.

How do you think Chris feels poor bloke he probably get's it from both ends like piggy in the middle
The previous 2 of mine might just have been from a bad batch, i assume Pentax like most other companies will only check 1 in so many so if there was a fault at the end of that batch and they tested one of the first from the batch it would have gone undetected.
Hopefully i will have a replacement for Wednesday or Thursday.

Heres hoping it hasnt had any adverse affects on the Lenses and its 3rd time lucky.
I cant fault SRS for their CS, its just a pity Pentax dont seem to pay the same attention to detail.

Phoned the local branch to be told as it was bought over 28 days ago they don`t have to replace it they can send it for repair, [ which would take several weeks meaning I would miss most of the best weather for taking photo`s and frankly I don`t see why I should miss two months of warranty time and be camera-less ! ], and according to trading standards they don`t have to replace it if it can be repaired - even though the wording on the governments site for the sale of goods act states clearly that the buyer has the right to choose if they want repair or replacement, so the government site which has the wording of the sales act on it is apparently wrong, and clearly it is not fit for its purpose
Could they supply you with written proof that the fault was not underlying when you bought the camera? If not then you are entitled to a replacement if under 6 months old.
You are also correct that you are entitled to a replacement and not a repair.
The 28 days only applies for a full refund.
I was speaking with a friend last night who works part time with CAB with regards to my own situation.
Im not forseeing any problems dealing with SRS but always better to be genned up.
His advice to me was pretty informative.
Within 28 days old? Send the lot back and get a full refund on everything.
But i like everything.
Irrelevant, you send the lot back as technically nothing is fit for purpose due to an issue with the camera and get a full refund.
You then reorder the same gear.
???? That sounds a bit Backwards.
Not really.. It renews you statutory rights and kicks off your 28 days refund entitlement from scratch.
His advice actually made a lot of sense as i had to send my original one back and get a replacement, i now have to send that back.
But by the time that replacement arrives it will be outwith the 28 days and if that or any of the lenses have problems i then need to wait for a repair or argue for a replacement.
Another thing also.
If you have to send anything back and you regard the cost to send as expensive then insist they arrange for it to be picked up.
The "expensive" part is what you deem expensive and not the retailer.
What might be expensive to someone might be buttons to someone else.

Although the shutter is stepless, the readout is not, so it only shows an approximation. If the light level is very close to another value then moving the camera slightly may trip it into another value.
The simple answer is that you moved the camera and the light reading changed. Nothing to do with SR.
Setting were in AV for that scenario, but i noticed that in other modes it would give me ISO warnings.
ISO was set manually, set to f8 in AV mode.
Tripod Mounted around 1/400, SR on around 1/200 or lower.
I wont be getting my K20D replaced for a few days it seems so i wont be able to do a Tripod SR off, Tripod SR On test to see what happens.
