That hasn't happened yet, so do keep us posted on how this goes. Hopefully the response will be better than you currently think.

It's time Pentax supplied loan cameras when they can't do a repair within a week.

Its even worse when you are only working 3 backshifts this week then off for a week then 4 x 11 hour Nighshifts then off for 2 weeks, i had so many Photography days out planned here there and everywhere i am totally gutted. It's time Pentax supplied loan cameras when they can't do a repair within a week.

And being a single parent with 3 kids, a back up camera is just not an option on a very tight budget.

Really?i think if it under 30 days old they have to replace it,
I bought my Original one on the 24th April but had to send that back due to the rubber coming loose issue, they sent me another (with the rubber issue but it wouldnt affect warranty so no issues.) on the 1st May.
Now i need to send this one back.
The really annoying thing is this is the first time i have been able to afford to buy a New DSLR and its been back and forth more than quasimodo.

I would send it back to SRS, I made the mistake and sent mine back to Pentax and 7 weeks 5 days later it turned up.

Tell SRS you can't be without a camera. The easiest solution would be exchange it for a new one.
Seems to be a hell of a lot of duff Pentax and Sigma gear in this newsgroup lately, what's happened to the QA. I've still got a 55-300mm lens with a chip on an inner element to send back to SRS.

I dont lay the blame for the faults at SRS's doorstep. They are a retailer so its hard to blame them. Tell SRS you can't be without a camera. The easiest solution would be exchange it for a new one.

Ive spent around £1400 with them in the past month and anytime i have spoken with them they have been great.
Now £1400 might not be a lot of money to others but its a hell of a lot for me. And to not be getting good solid use out of the gear i have bought is really pi%^ing me off.

in the first year its the retailers problem and if they tell you otherwise they don't know the law,
also my lens that i sent back to srs the 150-500mm has now been sent to sigma because its over 30 days old and im not the original owner,

When you've spent that much I would hope SRS would replace the faulty body on a turn around service.Ive spent around £1400 with them in the past month and anytime i have spoken with them they have been great.

I went up to New Lanark today with the kids to try and get some shots of the Peregrine Falcons.
Along the river bank this Great Tit sat on a branch about 7 or 8 feet from me.
Point, Focus, hmm..still waiting on focus, 4 seconds later it focuses but the bird has gone.
HSM = High Speed Motor = Should be done under the trades description act.
So i continued and saw some more birds and every time i was 3 to 5 seconds to focus.
Further along there was a stunning river scape shot to be had. I dug out the 16-45mm and focussed, ermm..nope..It was like a bloody machine gun.
Strange i thought, took the 16-45 off and put it back on. Still like a machine gun and refusing to AF.
Tried my 55mm with same results.
Strangely though my 120-400 AF's fine albeit as slow as a week in the Jail. I assume this is due to it having its own motor.
I phoned SRS and they said to send it back to them or Pentax.
!!!!!...Ermm..i only bought it a few weeks ago and now i need to wait on Pentax fixing it?
Now ive never had to send a camera for repair and any other goods i have bought in the past that went South i just took them or sent them back to where i got them and they replaced it.
Why is it different for cameras?
Its a pretty damn obvious fault and i would assume a terminal one at that.
I just dont think its very fair that i should have to wait several weeks minimum for a replacement.
