Just had an email from jessops after a wee bit of chasing around:

** High Priority ** Dear Mr Edwards, Thank you for your e-mail, I have been informed that this is a discontinued line now so we would not be able to offer the Pentax lens. However the offer it still available for the Tamron lens. Please confirm whether you would like to accept the replacement or have the order cancelled? Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you. Yours Sincerely.

ah well - shame about the Pentax - will probabably accept the offer of the Tamron although the wife and I have the Sigma already.

good luck everyone else.

Benvenuto ale_k200 - I'm Scottish and my grasp of Queens English is considered poor at best by my colleagues . Welcome to the forum - hope you have fun.

howdy jonbar - you'll have great time with your camera - I've got the K100 too and had a good 15th months of great fun and learning with it.
You'll get some great advice from here too....
Mines is.. "burn the books and just get snapping..."
Cheers from a man who's forgotten what an exam is

just browsing and noticed that with the code 10plus10 the lens is now £38.93. P&P of £4.95 on top and looks like might be quite a wait for it (no collect at store near me )
Cheers

mmmmm...all my worrying about 'wee free memory cards' does seem a trifle unimportant when you take in the bigger picture for small businesses etc. Over brekkie I did realise that as a surfer and a tight fisted jock even I will pay a bit over the odds to support a couple of Norfolk surfshops and I guess in photographic market there must exist the same shop loyalty too. Problem is that I'd love to support our local camera store too but they are just sooo much more expensive than some of the recommended places you see here...
anyway I'll go back to what I understand fully - which is dodging the DIY (sorry to hear about your central heating Gwyn )and preparing for my (so far) recession immune, research nurse job.
take care

19 and 25% - cripes ...Gartmore you have made a fair point though - it'll get clawed back in the future - so my vote is to spend all yer money now with the discount coz we'll all get taxed later.anyway.....frankly I can't see my logic in that last statement but I must convince the wife that the camera is FAR more important than a new damp proof course so I shall indulge in piffling waffly arguments till she gives in !!
Any helpful arguments gratefully received

Hi Rob - mustn't stop or the wifie will drop ma kegs and skelp ma doup when she see's the woeful progress in the DIY. Just had a restorative jam piece and a cup o Yorkshire. Fair dreich now so I may take you up on your toast Givingtree - wouldn't want you drinkin' alone and who cares about a small matter of international time zone differences
Right must continue - it's a sair fecht fur a half loaf ..
(Rob what have you done to me - I was all practised in the Queens english and now am gonna resort back to ma auld ways - oh and used to bide in Arbroath - do miss the Scottish east Coast though - at least Norfolk has a Scootish feel to it .......honest
