Just a quick 'fit like ?' from a Cornish born, Scottish east coast raised and now Norfolk based 40 something male...confused ? Yes I am.. but I find some solace in Photography and having lurked around for a wee while, would like to say a formal hi to everyone on this most amiable of forums. I started out on kodak thingymajig with a round hexagonalish film thing, went on to a 35mm Minolta Dynax (oh the pain of only receiving 2 good pics out of 36 from Truprint, Snappysnaps or whatever it was in the 80/90's). Evolved through compacts to my wife's Pentax K100 , fell in love with digital and now wrestling with my Scottish self to order a K20d and 16-45mm from SRS at 9am tomorrow morning ) Love landscapes (as you would living in the wonderful county of Norfolk) and looking forward to hanging out on the forum - learning , sharing and imbibing a glass or three of Shiraz.
Cheers

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Welcome CJ. Dodgy choice of wine though. Try a decent Rioja and you won't go back to the vinegar you drink at the moment

Hi, I've just bought the K20D from Park cameras, I can recommend both the camera and Park, best camera shop I've been in by far!
By the way, I'm of Conish descent, Born in London E17 Trevose Road(Trevose Head being Cornish also) and with the very old Cornish surname of Roskilly!
When you've the time pop down to Suffolk, for some good scenic shots, and treat yourself to a pint of Adnams "Broadside", knocks spots off any Shiraz!

morning everyone - thanks for the warm welcome. Unfortunately the 9 am deadline has passed and I'm still without camera due to a decorating hiccup (not through too much Shiraz but damp walls - damn and blast) Wife's panicking and talking about rising damp(which it isn't - looks like condensation) but there might be some emotional blackmail on the priorities of cashflow. I've suggested that I postpone the camera purchase until next week and save the 2.5% VAT which should go a long way to help fund any house repairs - sounds fair deal if you ask me! Interestingly, phoned Warehouse Express who acknowledged that they may indeed be dropping their prices (no exact % figure) but might be worth holding off any hugely expensive purchases to see what savings you make.Might post this in general discussion anyway.
I've tried a drop of Rioja, Mannesty and it didn't go down too well - are they usually so oaky ? Recommend me a good one though and in the spirit of Anglo - Spanish relations I'll try it - although pleeeese don't say how lovely and warm it is in Totana. (although not as cold as Quebec methinks)
have a good day everyone

Being a beer drinker I thought there were only two criteria for buying wine: Alcohol over 12%, price under a Euro.

Yes, it is a bit oaky, I agree. A couple of names that should be readily available in UK are Faustino VII and Campo Vieja. Both reasonably priced, mass produced wines.

Totana today . . . is quite cold (compared to normal, not Quebec) at 13 degrees C.

sounds like a good formula to me ! Mind you, I bought crates and crates of Leffe back from France recently - Blonde, Brune, 9'er , Triple and something called Demon - 12% - wonderful stuff and soooo much cheaper than here.
Actually , I should stress that I do like a nice cup of Yorkshire tea and a good strong expresso - not all liquids that pass my lips have an alcoholic content...or should that be alcohol content
My grammars gone to pot - get me a whisky

You should only worry about the Alcohol when it starts to induce camera shake, instead of steadying the hand.
