Thanks Steve, realised I've got the declared ISO wrong, shot @ 800 not 3200.

This was shot in Maidenhead, nr White Waltham Airfield, they swarm around usually midday onwards some 60+ and can be seen nr Stokenchurch as well as Marlow.

Try going to " Manual " set the shutter speed to 125th sec, use manual focus and see what happens, open the aperture to F5.6

Yes, I ignore it, cos as you say, once the images is converted to Tiff / Jpeg, there's no longer a problem.

For me its the K5iis, shot a wild Fallow dear the other week in dull conditions with a Sigma 100-300 zoom plus 1.4tc on a monopod and needed 3200iso to achieve 320th sec @ F7.1 Here

I use Glover & Howe, cost around £22 per £1000 of value, whilst I've never claimed, its peace of mind when out with a bag full of expensive kit.

imo to get the best quality from your images, you'll need ideally a desktop or minimum a laptop and ideally shoot RAW.

Either go for a s/h K5 plus a s/h 70 - 300 Zoom, and sell it when you get back alternatively hire the similar kit from somewhere.

If your travel zoom as been working well since you sold the last lot of kit, my guess is you'll want to do the same with this after the trip, so don't waste the extra cash on new kit.

Interestingly some compact cameras with electronic shutters have no such restriction.
Agree, I've a Fuji X100s and that'll sync at any speed up to 1/4000 sec.
