but basically it should just stay on the screen and it would then never be an issue.
Very much agree.

I think they're just yanking our chains.

Nautical bits
+1

Like the way the ropes and also the vertical wooden bit between them are all at the same slight angle from the vertical. (Well, not quite, but ykwim).

If it's working and says '1.03' what's the problem Chris?
Not saying there's a problem at all. Really only mentioned it to see if others had seen the same thing. It might help some if they know that it's normal ahead of time

Following the flashing of NOW LOADING the firmware does display COMPLETE on the rear screen, unlike previous models where the COMPLETE remained displayed this displays for a few seconds and then the screen goes blank.
Ah, it's possible I looked away for a moment or two at the crucial moment. Makes sense...

Interesting, thanks for mentioning.

you worry too much....just like I did when I upgraded to 1.01...

I stopped worrying doing firmware upgrades a long time ago - it's just when it does something different from what the docs say that I have a 'moment'.

I just upgraded mine from 1.0 to 1.03, did all the normal stuff (I've upgraded firmware loads of times before), fully charged battery etc etc...

..verified the version it was offering me, clicked Ok on Start.

It did the flashing 'Now loading' thing for about 20 seconds or so, and then I was expecting it to say 'Complete', as described in the doc that comes with it.

So you can imagine my moment of heart failure when the LCD went blank !

I left it for quite a few minutes (several times as long as these upgrades usually take) and then since I obviously didn't want to switch it off and brick it, I touched the shutter button enough to half-press it. And got the little buzz it gives when coming back from sleep.

Emboldened, I pressed MENU, and got the menu. Checked the firmware level, it said 1.03.

So I switched it off, removed the SD card, and switched it on again. It started up fine, and still says 1.03 and appears to be behaving normally.

Anyone seen this?

Both very nice indeed.

Excellent light, focus on the chick, exactly where it should be, and the squirrel in an unusual pose, with very nice light on the tail.

Perhaps bring up the shadows just a touch in the squirrel.

Quite like the third one, but I can't agree about the first. The bright window top right is far too domainant for me.

I also tried exiftool and that did not show the K-3 shutter count either.
Happily (thanks to Rawr on the US forum), it turns out that ExifToolGUI does show it.

To get it to work, I had to also:

- download the standard ExifTool,
- extract the contained exiftool(-k).exe into the folder containing the extracted GUI version
- rename exiftool(-k).exe to exiftool.exe

Then the GUI works a treat.

If they take as long to appear as new lenses on previous road maps have we will all be too old to lift them .
After bad tennis elbow last year, and a recent shoulder injury, I'm already barely able to lift the Bigma.

Some serious training needed, methinks.
