This is going to sound dreadfully off-topic I'm afraid, but I would like to welcome Ross to the forum.

And commend him for his taste in 1980s American television, but I must respectfully point out that his user name is spelt wrong. At the very least, it's missing an 'L'.

As for the diagonal shots with the 50mm f/2.8 macro, how else do you get an image caught? Use the whole frame and sod convention! but that's only my take on it.
I tend to agree

Neither can I, but the level in the bottle of Rioja I've been working on is something of a giveaway as to why.

Hmmm, it just seem to me that you are trying to stifle my artistic creativity.
You do that yourself, by owning too many lenses...

It's a bit unkind to bounce in like this, and not show us anything

It had better be worth waiting for. No goofy kids, please...

Funnily enough the HDR isn't so extreme that it bothers me particularly but the converging verticals do. I can see with some of them you have deliberately gone for extreme convergence, but some could have been shot straight? Couldn't they? Or am I just being an old fusspot...?
You are just being an old fusspot
Ooh, can I be an old fusspot too?

The CVs bug me too. I can get over the excessive HDR once I tune into the look, and the green (hey, I was a Konica film fan years ago!!)...

But I'm with Orinoco on the verticals.

That's one way to definitely miss the shot of a lifetime... 5 minutes to boot and be ready

Only two minutes if it's hibernated...

I wonder how long it will be before a version of Windows is available for digital cameras, update any camera to microsofts own software which will include drivers for all the popular models

We could even end up playing games on the LCD screens

Now that's a scary, and novel thought.

Exactly my thinking, too.

Chris, I appreciate any comments on my photos and you may well be right. I sometimes feel I have reached a bit of an impasse in my photography, and want to move in a new direction , but am not sure what that direction is!

These two were taken deliberately just before sunset, as I want to experiment more with taking photos using light at the margins of the day (something I did't really consider in the past).
Yes, I couldn't agree more. Don't get me wrong, I like the shots, and I wouldn't at all claim to be able to do better (except rarely by accident!).

I feel much the same as you, and I'm just being picky really. I have hundreds of shots that are sharp, well-exposed, but evoke a big "so what" in me.

I don't think I'm improving much these days. Technically a bit, maybe, but not compositionally. It's frustrating... and inspiration is lacking somewhat too. Maybe a K-5 would bring it back
