Just got a used Tamron Adatpall SP 300mm F/2.8 LD-IF in lovely condition and went out with it on my monopod (boy is this a heavy lens). From my GX10, F4, manual focus:

Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere, but Trusted Reviews have just put up a hands on preview of the K20D

http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2008/01/25/Pentax-K20D-Hands-On-Preview/p1

He certainly thinks it's a capable bit of kit but has a major gripe with the inaccurate metering.
Which could simply be attributed to beta firmware. Others that have handled the K20D haven't reported such problems, but until the final firmware is released, we won't know.

Edit: Odd that on that site that call the K20D an "enthusiasts camera" but the GX20 a "semi-pro camera" (in their RSS feed). Silly, since they're all but the same camera.

AFAIAA, you can't do it.

AFAIK, the feature set with K10D/GX10 firmware is currently the same (apart from any PEF options).

One of my very few gripes about the GX10 is that I do find the battery indicator to be pretty much useless. It seems to go from "full" to "half" to "empty" in a few minutes, i.e. practically no warning from supposedly full. TBH, I did hope/expect a %age scale.

I've left my GX10 left on for days without much battery drain thanks to the auto-off. Never left flash accessories on it, though.

I think if you state on the auction that you "reserve the right to end the auction at anytime because the item is advertised elsewhere" that you can legitimately end an auction.
I don't see anything in their rules that allows for that. The only ability to end an auction other than for technical reasons (mistakes) is if you agree to the highest bidders request to end early.

I can confirm what awaldram says. Sigma will require proof of duty paid to warranty the lens under the international warranty. If you don't have it, you will have to pay for repairs if you go directly to them rather than through the dealer.

It is however nice to know that others are having the same difficulties catching Long Tailed Tits
They're so much trouble. You hear them coming in a nice group of 10 or so (going tsceep tsceep) and they alight very close buy. By the time the lens has hunted around thanks to the contrast problems shooting into trees, the little bastards have flown off. Grumble.

I do appreciate that I'd never get those shots without the SR. The lesson learned by me today was to take both my tripod and monopod when I go out and decide which one will be best for the occasion when I get there.

That kingfisher was a shock. I'd just got to the hide, set up the camera, opened a view hatch and there was a flash of lightening blue and it landed on a nearby perch. Pointed the camera and got 3 quick shots off before I was really ready, and it flew off over the frozen lake. Beautiful birds.

Thanks - it's the Sigma 50-500mm (my arms ache).

I went out for a (freezing) fruitful morning stroll today with my bigma. I'd brought along my tripod, but should have used my monopod for small flighty birds, so these are all handheld at or around 500mm and f6.7:

Got lucky again, but she'd landed and taken off before I got a proper focus lock, so it's not quite there and needed too much PP to get this far:

This was my favourite as I'd not shot a Reed Bunting before, and guess what, it was eating reeds:

I'm reasonably happy with the lens so far. I know that these are handheld and with such a long reach at 500mm I ought to have support for it, but it's still not as sharp as I'd ideally like. Wide-open as these are, I think I'm seeing some kind of CA in some of these (though could easily be me shaking too much - see the second Robin), but PF seems to be well controlled. Any thoughts welcome - I'm very new at this lark.
