From memory you pull off the rubber cup, unscrew a retaining ring to insert the correction lens then reassemble. To mount it on the camera, you slide the original eyecup upward off the viewfinder and replace it with the "M".
so i've now got the eyecup M, and managed to slide off the original thing, and found the screws, but the eyecup M doesn't have the right little holes for the sliding piece of plastic to be screwed onto it, so how am I supposed to stick it onto the camera? If I install it without that sliding thing, it just comes straight off...

Selling a Chinex 28mm F2.8 1:2.8 lens, it's in very good and clean condition with front and back caps. Have the pouch that you could have as well but i've accidentally cut it during an outdoor "pursuit" so it's been patched up with bright red duct tape
£12+postage (probably 2 pounds?), ono?

i'm pretty badly short sighted as well as astigmatic, i think the main problem is due to my big fat glasses that adds a bit of distance in between and making it harder to see. when i see it the image is clear but then using manual focus is still hard either way...

Had a similar issue but then fitted a Pentax Eye cup M and it has made so much difference for me. Not sure if they are still available.

went out for a walk yesterday and decided to get one of those...found one on ebay, just wondering how do you install it?

hmmm, seems to be a lot of people telling me to get a split screen....how does it affect the autofocus though?!?!

a split screen might, but i don't get how it actually works, do i only get to see the middle circle bit, and the rest would be hazy/blurry?!?!
too new to this world so i know nothing, apart from my eyes feeling tired and strained after using a camera =P

Since i've been using a dslr i've been encountering this problem...i wear glasses, thick, wide plastic frame which always seems to get into my way when i'm looking into the viewfinder...(no i can't wear contacts, my eyes are too rubbish)
It's okay when i'm on autofocus, but i seem to struggle to determine whether it's on focus when i'm using manual, especially in dimmer conditions!
i'm using a ist DS, and the manual lens is a 28mm f2.8 that i picked up from ebay for £2.80 (winner)=P
if anyone has similar experience or tips that'd be nice!
cheers =D

i've recently just bought a ist DS off ebay, and I'm quite new to the world of dslrs, despite i've been exposed to a few on and off throughout the years since some mates own them, so i've used a variety of cameras..
getting an older body would mean that you pay less, and if you somehow decide that you don't like it or you're just not as into it as you thought you would've been, it won't cost you a fortune and you won't make a big loss.
my DS has served me very well indeed.
