So, on a recent trip to bulgaria, somewhat halfway through my 31mm, has refused to focus to infinity on the K5. But at closer distances it would still autofocus.

In the end I have swapped to manual focus, but seems like, even the pictures that I used manual focus on were a bit out of focus.

Now, is the problem lying with the body, or the lens? The 10-17mmfisheye seems to be doing fine on it...

If, the 31mm needs a fix by the way, anywhere you'd recommend me sending it to?

Cheers
Adrian

I took it on a backpacking trip to Armenia in March, whilst I normally just kick around with the 31mm.
It's light, and produces great images but as all would suggest it's not as good as the primes, and I never had to focus on fast moving things due to my photography subjects so that's not something I can really comment on. Or, I'm just not at the level that I'll go picking on the focus.

Size and weight wise, it's light, and compact enough, with excellent build quality. IQ and sharpness are good from what I've used it for, but again, it's just me. Saying that, no match with the 31mm but a decent lens all in all. Not everyone's taste, your best bet is to find one and try it really.

Or even depending on what you normally shoot at, get a zoom, and a prime...

e.g. the 16-50 and a 70mm

Or the 21mm and a 50-135...

£30 posted? It's sitting here collecting dust (not literally! it's in my cupboard!) so I really just want rid of it...or any offer? Otherwise if you're passing by Carlisle you can pick it up too!

Thank you so much people. I am really flattered.

By chance, there is a photo competition at work so I might enter a few of them, it's for a patient healing centre and it'll be landscape shots of places visited!

And I was also luckily in touch with the guidebook publisher and the are doing a new edition that's due out in september, and they had a look at the photos and may pick some for publishing! So, I'm more than just lucky this time!

Finally someone likes my personal favourite! Andrew has made my day...or have you said that to make me happy!

Gwing, I have to say, nice edit but that really looks nothing like what the place actually looked like....it was certainly very yellow, if anything a golden haze to the pine trees in the foreground would be most realistic, also there's a raindrop that I brushed away, very poorly, in iPhoto, which is at around the 8pm position from the monastery..

I'm more than just flattered, as I have never really received such feedback from so many experienced photographers.

More of a discussion, has anyone got any hints or tips about editing these shots, especially the wide angles? I only have a simple de-fishing plugin, that works well, but I'm never so sure how to edit contrast/colours etc...I use aperture, but have used lightroom when I owned a PC, and am thinking about getting it for the mac if I can...

Cheers guys!

Thank you so much, never in my life was I expecting such positive words. The setting of most things were beautiful out there, and really no photo can do it justice. My personal favourite is actually the ones of Akhtala's frescoes, but mostly because I had the joy of walking a whole hour uphill with 15kg worth of baggage and those are probably the best preserved frescoes in the whole of Armenia, that are currently still within a monastery.

I quite like the Mt Ararat one too, but never thought it was THAT great...

Makaravank was actually famous for its carved windows, that let light in in such a fashion, I guess I was there at the right time.

Smeggy mentioned pic 7, that is actually a pagan temple, back from the very early days when the country first adopted christian as the nation religion, where there was still a certain blend of zoroasterids!

And to gwing, I also like the one of Tatev, but I am also guilty about the amount of processing I had to do to get it to this stage, it was in the middle of the day and I was more or less shooting directly into the light, but also from inside a cable car, so, wasn't ideal conditions and just about dodged the harsh alpine sun!

Thank you again people!

Or just with trees!

I was taking shots of monastery interiors in Armenia for the last two weeks, it was nearly essential, without the 180degree angle of view i wouldn't have been able to take half the shots!

So, took a fisheye lens, 20-40mm ltd and the 70mm ltd with a K5 to Armenia, and came back with a few photos
On my previous travels I have always used the 31m as my main lens but decided that the 20-40mm would offer the flexibility I need, whilst still retaining plenty of quality. So, it did deliver the flexibility, and certainly delivered the quality, but by all means, I wouldn't have to think one second to say I by far prefer the 31mm's image quality. Though really, the tradeoff in quality for flexibility was essential, so, not a bad choice to take the 20-40! I guess everyone looking at this would be able to tell what's from a fisheye (even post defishing) and what's from a prime, what's not those two will be the 20-40, so, see what you think!
