Hi Stefan, I have tried the test by pointing at a blank non reflecting surface and the shutter speed alters from 60th. to 125th. I tried both K10 and K20 and the same result. This was in AV mode. In TV mode the F stop altered from 5.6 to 8. I would expect these sort of changes but how can we determine how this affects the auto focus?

Gotta remember it is Argos, on a par with Jessops.

Stefan, I will try the experiment over the weekend. Probably Sunday as we have the twin grandsons on Saturday.

Lesson number 1. Be careful, this is a region of delicacy beyond imagination. Things in here mark just by looking at them with the naked eye. You might find a speck in the viewfinder is a nuisance but a scratch on the focus screen or mirror can be a pain in your wallet.

Bob, there is no point in having a decent lens if you put a couple of slabs of frosted glass in front of it. Modern filters from major suppliers apply coatings to them just as lens manufacturers do. Remember that a polarising filter is primarily two finely finished filter elements placed in a holder that permits the outer element to rotate and fulfil it`s function.

I reckon we ought to have a Pentax Forum day. Think about it, the Scots and Aussies are all over the world bit like Pentax Forum folk. My vote is for January 26. The day Mark got his kit back. Well, another excuse for some tonsil wash but for me nothing less than 40%.

I`m not overly impressed with JP. I had to ring them to check if they had received my W80. When I sent a Sony Handycam for repair Sony sent a receipt by return. All part of customer service.

How about "the reasonable period of time?" Could be worth looking on the BBC One Show website for a downloadable letter/form. I feel sure Dom Littlewood did a piece on early failure of goods.
