Aha foiled. Tea in our house is code!!!!!!!!!!!!! No not really but I am hoping to meet up with a quite recently found sister for a dram or two. That, as they say, is another story. I had forgotten about Britannia though.

Iv`e heard of the castle got a big noisy gun I think!!!!I have a few days to fill while the boss is at a conference in the city. I don`t know Edinburgh at all but i note a couple of laddies on the forum hail from the place. Oh I don`t mind walking as long as I find a nice tea shop near the destination. I`m trying not to sound too serious on this or I might affect the "Pointless thread" image that many of us have come to know and enjoy. There wouldn`t be a shop purveying intersting items of a photographic nature BTW?

I did an apprenticeship as a motor vehicle electrician way back in the 70`s. Back then we would repair just about anything because that`s how it was. Now though!!!!! I used to think the likes of the Citroen DS (well any Citroen) were really monstrous creatures. Used to virtually dissmantle the body before you could do anything. But now! check the oil and coolant keep it full of petrol and screenwash and that really is it. A very de-skilled job now, plug in the diagnostics, charge a fortune and hope the expensive bit they change was the right bit. I just buy new Suzuki`s every now and then and trust everything to the dealer. There again though they are very decent folk.

Sorry Gwyn! The problems of reliability are so frustrating especially as there is so little that we can do ourselves.

Glad to hear from you Barrie, really pleased that both you and Margaret are healing.

Hi Tony, good to hear from you too. All is well here in the far East. MAK got back safely from Finland last night. Now to put some perspective on a couple of things she is a member of the medical profession show she knows about things! Her holiday gift to me from Lapland is a bottle opener set into a reindeer antler so therefore beer is good for me. Chocolate originates from beans that grow on trees and are therefore of vegetarian origin and must also be good for me (I`m a vegetarian). For non veggies one of the first things we learnt from med school was that "It`s not red meat that kills you but the bluey green furry stuff."
