I love my K20. I love its size, its weight, its shape and its looks. I have a grip that fits my hand perfectly. My only problems I am having is getting nice, sharp pictures but that is another issue as can been seen in orther threads and is probally the way I am using it.

I write a regular gardening feature for a local newspaper and on Monday I was at the Chelsea Flower Show Press Preveiw Day. I was surrounded with press photographers most with big, fat, Canons but I did not feel out of place with my K20.

I do not want a camera that takes video and I do not want a smaller camera so the K7D will not be for me but if the K20 is replaced, or updated, then I will change, but if not, I am quite happy with my K20, but I must get to grips with the sharpness problem.

I apreacaite all the help you all have been giving me on and off over the last year or so and especally with my sharpness problems.

I will try and post some photos if I can work out how to post them.

And what settings are you shooting, a photo with EXIF data would be very nice.

Also don't expect the photo to be looking perfect on 100% zoom simply zoom to 50% and make a judgement then. Even the smallest movement can make the image softer at 100%.

Thanks for the reply

I completed the focus chart check a couple of months ago. One of my kit lenses has a back focus problem that is so far out, the k20 focus adjustment will not correct. I must send it back to SRS for replacement. The focus chart test on the 16-45 is however spot on so I normally use this lense.

On the natural and bright custom image setting, I have set the sharpness setting to +2 but still the shots are soft. Any futher advice would be appreciated.

I too would like sharp shots but after over a year with the K20, most of my shots are a little soft. I have seen some really nice sharp shots on this forum that are spectacular but mine are not. I normally use raw plus jpeg and play with the raw shots in elements 7 but when I attempt to sharpen up the shots they end up grainy or with hallows. I have updated my kit lensese to the 55-300 and 16-45 and have been using a tripod in an attempt to get better results but withour sucsess. I am a novice and would like some good jpeg settings from experienced users that will give me sharp shots and when I can get this right, I can then play with the Raw in elements 7.
The first thing you should do really is check you focus settings with a focus chart, download from herelink
and make sure your camera/lenses are set spot on first. Then make adjustments to your style of shooting, Jpeg, Raw, or both etc..

Thank you guys

The fact is that there are so many things to learn and would prefer to avoid to add the raw matter at the moment.

Anyway, which software are you using and can suggest?

As to the settings, I'll try the ones suggested: I like sharper images, but let's see how it is
(by the way I confused the center Focusing with the centre spot metering, so I was shooting with the last one: result was that often they were under exposed for my liking)
(by the way2=OT2 : I'm struggling to understand the _practical_ usefulness of the AF and AE-L lock: can't I have the same result pressing half-way the shutter button?)

While deleating a single photo file on my K20 I pressed the deleat button twice by mistake and so have deleated all the files on the card. Is there any way of recovering the files?
