Hi Jules

The AF on the D750 works in the dark but hunts for a split second where as on the k-5 I always found it lock on straight away with no hunting. I bought the D750 because the low light AF is so poor on the D600 and is supposed to be an improvement and it is, but not in Pentax league yet....

In my day job my employers won't buy a card reader and the usb slot on the camera is nearly at the end of its life, its splitting and cracking, not long before it falls apart.

I would always use a card reader and this is the best of the lot.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-MobileLite-Multi-Reader/dp/B00KX4TOR...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438198190&sr=8-1&keywords=sdxc+kingston+g4

It reads the new UHS-2 cards unto 280 m/bs which is fast and is made from aluminium too so it could be the last reader you buy.

It does concern me though that in a balanced review there is no mention of AF performance at all, which as we know is the one area that has aspects which lag behind the competition.

Does it? The k-5 Mkii has the best low light af of any system. My D750 is supposed to af at -3ev like the k-5mkii and all top line Pentax dslr since and it's not a patch on my old k-5 Mkii which in near dark conditions locked on instantly.

Let's face it all digital cameras are good now, you will be hard pushed to find a dog of a camera with sensors and technology being as good as they are.

What is making a difference is sizing and that's where Olympus Fuji and even Sony are winning the battle. I was in Jessops the other week and the salesman shoved an Olympus body in my hand said what do you think of that and to be honest I wanted to buy one right there just on the size and weight of the thing...

That's odd when I called them they where adamant they could get no parts for any 100-300mm f/4 otherwise I would have got mine repaired. Will be interested to here what they say.

Sigma are no longer servicing 100-300mm f/4 I called them last month and they have no parts available at all. This was in Nikon mount but I assume all other mounts are affected.

I wonder what SRS will do if their lens develops a fault in the next 12 months.

That's not exactly true. If you where to take a photograph of the gerkhin as an example and the start selling mugs with that image on you would have infringed the architects copyright in that building.

What the new proposals are considering is extending permission required to photograph buildings. If this proposal did go through and became law would owners of buildings really try to stop amateurs and tourists from taking these kind of photos? The answer most likely would be no, just because a law is introduced would not mean it is implicated, look how few people are fined for using a mobile whilst driving....

No members have a Leica or a hasselblad then?? I imagine a few of those members have moved from ca ikon to Fuji, I know a few pros who have, I also know a number of pros that are moving to Olympus because of the lightness of the system...

Yes because business likes adding in delays and spending more money and time on research and development in their products don't they?

I imagine the old Pentax wouldn't have even sent out a press release just the odd murmur it's arriving soon...

Now there are no longer any serviceable parts from sigma I am guessing this lens will now fall in value considerably. I recently called sigma due to a dropped 100-300mm f/4 and they couldn't even quote due to a lack of parts...
