I've just been through a similar thought process for my son. His uncle gave him a 6MB Nikon to use through his GCSE Art - he's had a great 2 years out of it. In Sept he'll be embarking on A Level Art and focusing on photo montages - he's been nagging me about a fast 50, a macro lens and a longer zoom for the Nikon. Given that I have K3 and some old and vintage primes as well as DA* zooms and a macro lens it made sense for him to get a Pentax body. I just managed to get an immaculate K5ii and 18-55 WR from a forum member for him only a little over his budget. On ebay I've seen a k5 + 18-55 go for around the £210 incl. P&P. The K5 has a bigger form factor than the K30/K50 but appears cheaper and is still a fantastic camera. Just an option...

K-5ii & lens arrived safely and well packaged.
They both look immaculate - my son will be over the moon when he gets back from school.

A smooth transaction - thanks Wayne.

Great stuff and certainly the right characters/models for the graffiti walls. I have a club competition coming up soon with the "graffiti" theme and I think the photos need a human element and you have certainly given me some great ideas - I'll have to make my way to Brick Lane (East London) again.

#1 for the critter. And top of the bunch #8. I'm guessing it's camera movement (ICM) rather than poppy movement.

A great set and I wait with interest for future shots with this and other lenses. #1 for me - the range of greens is superb. I'm still toying with the K1 move but not the bunch of used K1s from SRS fro £999 are all sold I can relax a while. It's the uptick cost in the new lenses which is putting me off... I'll try and wear out the K3

Thank you all at SRS, Matt and Luke for a great morning. Excellent info on the KP and the K1 - especially when comparisons were made to the K3. It was great to get hands on with both cameras, thanks Matt for letting me try you 15-30 on the K1 too - as wide as I need and then some. My upgrade path from K3 could well be KP or K1. After trying both - the K1 felt better in my hands (as familiar as my K3) and looking at the samples shots I took inside the church in dark corners it would suit me well. I'm not sure that I would be interested in using my DA* zooms in crop mode on the K1 so lens upgrades/trade-ins would be required too (anyone have experience using them with the K1?)
