Thanks for the replies guys. I decided to go for a metal one and ordered from your seller Greytop.

Hi,

I've recently purchased an SMC 28mm f2.8 M lens which of course is no longer a wide-angle lens when used on a DSLR.

Would it be best to get a general purpose 49mm hood or one designed specifically for a wide angle lens?

Cheers

Dave

Actually, I misread your original post. I purchased a 135, not a 35mm. I imagine that a 35mm f3.5 would fetch a lot more so you could have found a bargain.

Also noticed this deal in Currys, Saffron Walden today so well worth checking any Currys branch if you are in the market for one.

I picked one up on E Bay for £25 a while back on a BIN. I would say £30 is a good price.

Welcome Matt,

You mention that: 'The sad thing is that I've never seen a photographer using a Pentax DSLR, let alone a *cough* Samsung!'

Well I'm in Cambridge so not so far away from you in Saffron Walden and I use one!

I must admit that I was a little bemused by your response Viewfinder. I was merely trying to 'flag up' a potential bargain for somebody. Where else could you buy a brand new DSLR with a more than competent kit lens for £250?

£599 does seem rather high but interestingly, the Photography Blog review seems to view it it as more of a mid -range camera than an entry level one. However, if you read the comments section at the end of the review, there is an Australian guy who says it is available there for an equivalent of £405!

Spotted at Currys in South Ruislip yesterday for £250. 2 lens kit was £329.
