Yes but all pentax cameras are much over priced even the badly designed ones like the km abortion. Wait a bit longer,..perhaps till after Christmas and the price will probably drop as pentax dealers and sellers will need to get shot of the duff stuff like the km in order to flog kx.

It's a very good and capable camera indeed. Some folk just have a bee in their bonnet because Pentax chose to make something that would actually sell instead of bankrupting themselves chasing the miniscule, irrelevant, loss-making "full frame" market. Take everything with a pinch of salt.

A strange and unfounded observation about a little D-SLR that is actually very good IMHO

Viewfinder, you are the only person I have read to state misgivings about the k-m. You must have your reasons, so please elaborate.

I must admit that I was a little bemused by your response Viewfinder. I was merely trying to 'flag up' a potential bargain for somebody. Where else could you buy a brand new DSLR with a more than competent kit lens for £250?

You'd think this would follow, but I'm not convinced that it does. Or if it does, the reasons are not usually revealed.

Viewfinder is an interesting character in these parts. He appears from time to time, usually to say something quite cutting.

One is left wondering why, but there's no obvious reason, and it remains one of the forum's unanswered questions.

He provokes a "hmm" in me when he posts. It would be nice to have a little more flesh on the bones, but one can't have everything.

In this case, I think he is touching a nerve - I get the impression there is a groundswell of opinion that Pentax is becoming overpriced. But I had a little play with a KM the other day, and although I didn't really like it, I wouldn't describe it as an abortion.

What I will say is that if I was going to make a controversial statement such as that, i'd at least state my reasons, otherwise the statement itself is totally diluted and without merit.

Also noticed this deal in Currys, Saffron Walden today so well worth checking any Currys branch if you are in the market for one.
