Wow, absolutely brilliant set.
The last one's worthy of Constable ...
Superb reflections in 7 & 8.

My reply disappeared .... !
Anyway, many thanks for your comments - and you confirm the conclusion I had reached : they are boring !!!

Wide flat landscapes need a strong point of interest. Perhaps I try to get too much in the photo rather than concentrating on one thing.

I've cropped the boat photo and I think that's already an improvement :

Interestingly, in cropping more closely; I can see a couple of wayward dust specks

Stunning set - No. 6 for me if I had to choose.

I like this very much and agree that it has a vintage feel about it. I like the soft fruit against the simple dark background and the framing - it makes me think of the sort of card I like to receive.

I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough to comment on what sort of treatment you may have given this and would just say that I find it a very pleasing photograph.

These are photos I took of the river recently. Considering it is a major river in France, the water level is incredibly low, which is what I was trying to show when taking these photos. It may well be that the sandbanks would have been more impressive if I had taken them from a bridge!

One or two are in my gallery, but I would very much appreciate some critique as when a photo does not get any comments (good or bad), it clearly doesn't make much impression!!!
It may be that they are just plain boring - I would not be in the slightest bit offended if that is the case!!

Are they over-saturated? Is the composition boring or just not there?

This is one of the most interesting topics I have ever read - so many good ideas. I'm going to take a copy of it to help me.

Charlotte - I think we all hit a brick wall at some time, either feeling uninspired or, like me, the feeling that I'm not progressing. Learning is always uphill followed by a plateau and it's when you feel you're stuck on the plateau that it's frustrating.

I have always enjoyed looking at your macros and it seems that you have a natural eye for composition in your landscapes.
It looks to me as if you have already moved onwards and upwards

The 55-300 is brilliant - definitely the one to go for.

Ah, I'm glad to find this topic as I was about to write one in a similar vein as I was surprised to see that my photos seem to say "shutter priority" when I use "aperture priority" !
I shall stop worrying now
