Thank you for your help Kris!

I have currently only used the lens on my Spotmatic, and scanned the film. What kind of an adaptor do I need to use the Super-Takumar on my K20D?

How does one remove the yellow tint from photos taken with this Super-Takumar 1.4 lens? I have recently started using Adobe Lightroom, and so far I have found out that reducing colour temperature helps. But I am sure there is more to it than this...

Any help is highly appreciated!

Thank you for all your advice!

I initially tried to remove the deposits with CRC electronic cleaner containing isopropanol using two cotton buds spliced together to get the appropriate length. I managed only to remove some of the deposits with CRC. I will follow your advice and try White Vinegar.

If I manage to remove most of the deposits, so that the contacts are clean and everything functions properly, will that be good enough? Or do I need to remove absolutely 100% of the battery deposits? Will fragments of battery leakage cause harm to metal contacts or plastics in the long run?

I bought the MX "system" including the winder some weeks ago. The previous owner forgot to remove the batteries I will take great care to never do this mistake myself...

I recently purchased a very nice Pentax MX "system", including 2 MX bodies and the following lenses:

1. SMC Pentax-M 1:1.4 50mm
2. SMC Pentax-M 1:2.8 28mm
3. Tokina SD 70-210mm f4-5.6 (SZ-X 721)

How will these lenses perform on my K20D? I am in need of a long zoom, as I currently only have the smc PENTAX DA 18-55mm AL WR that came with the K20D, so the Tokina is the lens I am most curious about for now.

Do I need to take special precausions when fitting the manual lenses on to the K20D?

Thank you very much Kris for your valueable information about the MX!

This afternoon I bought two Varta V357 batteries, and like you said above they also have the code LR44 printed on them. So these must be the appropriate ones for the MX.

I changed the light seals on my Spotmatic two weeks ago, using the Jon Goodman/Interslice kit. The Spotmatic was given to me for free and has been used a lot during its lifespan, so I did not have too many doubts about going ahead with this operation on my own. My first film with the Spotmatic was processed yesterday, and it seems that the light seals fix was a success (The only problem with the pictures is that they have a slight tint of sepia/yellow due to my thorium infected Super-Takumar lens). With my mint MX, on the other hand, I am not sure if I dare to do any repairs myself. It is such a beautiful little camera!

Would it be possible to check the light meter on the MX by comparing light readings with my K20D?

I have been considering using Harrow Technical. We have an excellent Pentax workshop here in Norway, but the price level for camera repair/maintenance is very very high in Norway.

I have recently purchased a Pentax MX in mint condition. I am now contemplating whether or not I should send the camera to a complete service. Maybe I could start using the camera, and have it serviced some time in the future? The light seals are a bit sticky but all intact, the mirror damper is fine. Do I need to worry about the inner light seals deteriorating? I know for instance that there is a big light seal underneath the film rewind crank.

The MX came fitted with two "Varta V357" batteries. Are these the correct batteries for the MX?

Any information is highly appreciated!

I have just bought a Pentax MX camera with the MX winder. Unfortunately the previous owner forgot to remove the batteries inside the winder when he stopped using the equipment. The result is that there are battery deposits around the inner contacts in the winder

What is the best way to remove the battery deposits?

Is it possible to dismantle the winder to get to the inner battery contacts?

Any information on my problem is highly appreciated!

If I were to try to clear the yellowing from my lens with an artificial UV source, would a 1W UV LED flashlight do any good. Or would I need a much more powerful UV light?

Hi Bjorn, if the lens is yellowing don't worry just leave it in the sun (in Trondheim!!!), as far as I recall any colouring will fade in sunlight.
In fact, the sun can be seen quite a lot in Trondheim Good to know how to combat lens yellowing if indeed that appears to be a problem with my lens. I need to check the lens further.

I guess I will not dwell any more with the dust issue. There are only tiny isolated particles inside my lens.

Thank you for all the valueable information!

Thank you Tim for your very informative post!

I am waiting to receive my (Interslice) light seals for the Spotmatic, and fix this issue, before I run a film through the camera. I am eager to test the lens.
