Thanks for the information - useful and funny. Will get out as soon as the sky lets me.

Anyone going to give some useful advice about shooting in the dark - I have a canal and a Victorian mill in walking distance, so - any advice would be great. As a side point, this will be my first fortnightly comp so I need an 'idiot's guide' to submitting an image.

No it doesn't.( at least IMO ) You are a Pentax user, right?
Remember, these competitions are for fun, and possibly for some learning.

Martin.
Definitely a Pentax Gal - it was one of those moments where I couldn't risk not getting something and the Finepix is great in Auto - I have already planned the baby's 1st birthday photoshoot - high key set up - I hope. Might be back with some questions before the event. Beverley

What's a skirting board?

Well, I think it's something women use like BeeBee's image of the tool board for short dresses - but don't quote me on that.

Mike
LOL - very good answer - sadly, my husband would agree with you and mean it!!

Soz - reply to Dan - for his eyes only - yea, as if that is going to happen.

You look lovely with the fisheye - I would quit while you're ahead - again, no insult intended.

Just looked at your profile - no insult intended - but I will stick with the one that is trained (to a point), and almost lovely!! (23 years and counting)

Busted - 'Unused' sounds so much more interesting than 'cared for' - my husband was most put out by my title - he runs his own garage and the photo sums up his workshop - clean, tidy and very, very organised. Doesn't seem to work at home, I'm still waiting for my skirting board in the bathroom after 3 months.

I love 'having a go' in the weekly comps - I learn so much from the post comp comments. This week I was at a bit of a loss - went round the house with my black and white card looking for 'possibles' - gave up. In the end I worked on an image from my husband's garage - not the greatest image, as I took it months ago, but it made me 'think' - the title is a little unfair as my husband uses and then cleans his tools - so they look like they have never been used. Loving the shots - I have my favourite already - BUT it's not mine (again).

PS - I have googled 'still life' and it states still life is USUALLY inanimate objects BUT doesn't have to be - I really want to add my 'cats' - they are inanimate ALL the time. They have been put in my gallery instead - have a look.
