It's wonderful! ISO control in Av and Tv with the "other" dial, and wireless flash!

I also got the Katz Eye screen. After I screwed it up installing, I actually took it to them where Rachel kindly put the camera back together. Now I have a REAL SLR, just like the old days. I can actually focus without relying on some dodgy electronic thingey, just my eyes!!

No, you're both forgetting that the native ISO of the sensor is 100. To get ISO 50, you'd have to put a resistor in the circuit to decrease the signal, possible introducing noise from the resistor.

Higher ISO's are created by amplifying the signal, which induces noise as well.

I've used the (original) Nikon F, various Canon cameras, and a few oddities. I sold the Nikon gear and Canon gear because I didn't like it, especially the Canon.

For at least twenty-five years I've stuck with a couple of MX's, and now the D and the K10D. I still have my Mamaiya RB67 and my TOYO 4x5, but the customers seem happy with 10 megapixel images so I'm mostly using the K10D.

I also have an old Olympus E-20, which is now my "car camera" that I keep in the car. I also inherited a small Olympus compact from my father's estate, which is sort of amusing, but not really good for much.

In the past there was everything from a Kodak Brownie using 127 film to an Instamatic (silly camera) to a huge 8x10 that I no longer use because I can't even pick it up any more!! I bought a TOYO 45C to do architecture work.

I had my D for years before I needed to clean the sensor, and I have a LOT of lenses. I just got the Sensor Swabs and Eclipse fluid.

It was a bit nerve-wracking the first time, but it worked. Now I feel fine about sensor cleaning.

Adobe Camera RAW and pretty much any processor that can handle DNG can take RAW files straight out of the camera, if you use DNG instead of PEF.

I'm not so sure about that. As long as Kodachrome is available, I'll still keep my MX bodies in good repair. I might want to use one of the new DFA lenses on the MX, they cover the full frame, after all.

If you make your living off photography or are a serious practitioner of the craft, it's always wise to have a backup body.

I now keep the*st D as a backup in case anything happens to the K10D

Or you can archive all your important work as DNG, like saving negatives so you can make different prints in the future!

If you're asking what I think you are, there are two current advantages to DNG besides future compatibility:

ACR will read DNG right out of the camera, no conversion necessary. Same for most RAW processors

Adobe DNG converter (free) compresses the K10D DNG files. This saves space if you're concerned about filling up your HDD (not an unreasonable concern).
