Thanks for all the info.

I'll keep looking, they are very plentiful on ebay!

Hi,

I got interested in this lens when Chris offered one for free on the forum. I missed it but like what I've read about it, and they are pretty cheap anyway.

However, I see two types on ebay, and wondered if anyone can shed some light on the differences.

One has the aperture ring at the front end and the focus at the camera end, the other is conventional, ie the other way round.

Are they different 'marks' different makers? Is one better optically than the other?

Hi Chris,

If for any reason this falls through, may I have second refusal please? I have read some interesting reports on it.

Happy to recycle to the group if/when I have finished using it.

Thanks

I'm confused...will SRS sell equipment on behalf of customers? Do they take a commission? How does this work?

Ok...obviously either pitched at too high a price or not a desirable lens...

...is £15 delivered any more enticing?

Hi,

This Centon 50/1.7 came with my latest Pentax, but I have a couple already so thought I'd offer it here.

The lens is in very good condition, a couple of dust specks inside, it works just fine, BUT it has a light rattle! There is something loose inside at the front, although it focuses fine, aperture is fine, nothing sticks or grinds.

Due to this, I'm offering it for £20 posted.

Mine too, and I've only used it once.

If you look at pentaxanne's ebay link earlier, the hole has a metal 'eyelet' or 'sleeve' through it. Obviously a weak point that has been noticed. I'm sure a piece of stainless tube and a bit of araldite will sort it if it continues.

I take it that the ebay strap bolts to the tripod socket?
Yes it does, it's quite a substantial lump of metal...hang on...

like that. It's aluminium of some type I think so not too heavy, and you can still use the camera on a tripod.

I found it very comfortable when I used it for a few hours, it's certainly less conspicuous than sitting on your chest.

Thanks for all the advice. I think it is more practice needed then!

The lens is very new so I'm not used to it yet. Hopefully I'll get some better shots at Eastbourne.

ChrisA...are those photos from last weekend? We were there for the Tiger Moth fly-in, I was with Air Cadets so had access wherever, but I had to keep an eye on them so couldn't wander far. We did get a guided tour round one Tiger Moth by the owner, he put the value at about £70k! If I get over again I will give you a shout, although with traffic it was a two hour trip each way, so may not be soon.
