Monitor calabration now call me thick but is that ajusting somert if so what ??
Sure is. You can find whole books on the subject, but essentially it is setting up your monitor so that it outputs the correct colors.
This way your monitor will be consistent with anyone else who also has a calibrated monitor and/or printing service.

Are there ANY computer components Vista does work well with?
If you bought a computer with Vista already installed, you can almost be guaranteed that everything will work fine. Just DO NOT install any other software or other hardware. You may be disappointed.

The flash does tell you whether it managed to light the scene sufficiently.
How does the flash indicate this? I think I recall the manual says something about the lightning bolt in the camera giving an indication but I've never seen that (with my IstD nor with my K10D).
I haven't noticed any indication on the flash itself either.

Thanks.

Please post an example if you don't figure it out.

Also note that PTTL appears to be very sensitive to high contrast with regards to calculating an overall exposure.
I have a few posts here showing some problems I have had with both the 360 and 540 on my K10D.
If you are photographing a dark subject but an edge of bright wall, for example, creeps into the frame the exposure may be WAY off.
May also happen if there is bright reflection such as on jewelry, glasses, etc...

If I'm doing studio type work, I'll use full manual.
Otherwise I just hope for the best. When it works, it works great. But I have not figure out how to predict with some certainty exactly how it will behave.
I generally have to pump about EV+1 to get properly exposed images.

Yeah, mine too. I often have to grab with two or three finger to get control of the thing. If I shove it with enough force from one finger, it tends to spin fast enough that the values go in the opposite direction. Rather frustrating...

I've had my 360 about three or four years and my 540 maybe a year and a half? The dials have not loosened up, so we're pretty much stuck with it.

Yeah with multi-exposure you're going to ed up with overlapped exposures anyway. If outdoors, it means that your first image is going to be severely washed out by the subsequent lack of subject in that location (i.e the sky, water, ec...) since the whole frame is re-exposed each time then blended.

I'm guessing you want something like the image of a windsurfer in multiple positions through a jump. You would not get good results with normal multi-exposure.
Although if anyone that actually makes these shots has other opinions/options, I would be very interested if it is not all done via post processing.

Multi exposure works great with a dark background, filters that block off areas of the frame, or if you're interested in faded/overlapping images.

What type of objects? Is this for sports, or small studio work?

For small studio/desktop work, you may want to look at electronic flash triggers that will fire on queue or laser triggered, etc... Just keep the shutter open (in a dark room) and flash when required. The object will only show up where/when the flash triggers.
For sports or outdoors, of course, the rapid fire shutter release, and merging after the fact is the way to go.

Just a matter of research and development -- with a bit less on the research?

Actually, I suppose there are fewer cases where rapid fire multi-exposure would come into use than a slower, methodical and well laid out series of photos would.
Probably a toss of the coin really as to which method was chosen although there are surely technical aspects that limit what can be done with the space, speed and costs available. (I wont try to guess on those areas).

Anyway, each photo is processed on top of the buffered image. So you're going to have some lag between each shot. But a second is all it takes? I remember trying this with the istD. Ugh! I would be happy with a second.

You'd get much better control doing such merges yourself in Photoshop or similar program anyway. I generally have not been happy with the in-camera blending. (although probably technically consistent with multi-exposure on film??)

None yet, but no extra benefits that I noticed either.
Only problem is that it now makes me want that damned DA* lens more than ever!! WHERE IS IT?!?!? Argh!

Hopefully this is an indication that they are ramping up for its release?
Or is it an indication that things went sooo poorly with the original design that a patch needs to be done, and possibly a hardware overhaul to make things work correctly. (would explain the excessive delays...)
