The dog has a nice expression but two things you could do to improve the picture - Firstly it has 'green eye' (the canine equivallent of red eye when the flash reflects off the back of the eye) - you can edit tha out in software (most have some sort of red eye removal tool which should also woor on green eye). Secondly, crop the picture so that you remove the arm on the right.

And keep shooting

Mindyou, the news page of this Pentax User site thinks the latest news is the 18-250 lens...

What about filling the gap between 20 & 50 with the FA 35 2.0? Faster and cheaper than any of the zooms. If you can't locate a Pentax one there is also the Samsung equivalent.

Camera World (just off Oxford Street) used to feature Pentax kit - I don't know if they still do. They have a website www.cameraworld.co.uk

PS I do have images of the same plant at smaller apertures (right down to f22) but I like this one with narrow DOF

Most reviews rate the 18-250 Pentax/Tamron higher than the various 18-200s (and 18-300s) on offer and the Sigma 18-135 has had very mixed reviews including some focusing issues. The two 24-135s on offer (Sigma and Tamron) both have good reviews but being full frame they are bulky. I had the Tamron 24-135 and it was very good but I eventually ditced it for the (even better) Pentax 28-105 for film which though not as wide range, is smaller, lighter and faster. A bit limited at the wide angle end on digital though. Worth considering is the Pentax 24-90 which gives an equivalent angle of view of 36-135 on digital.
