If using the Pentax AF160FC Ring flash, there is a special adapter included in the kit, for use with the DFA Macro - it fits in place of a lens hood and the flash mounts on it instead...
So there you have it!.. You learn something new every day!..

I wouldn't put my ringflash on the D-FA 100mm macro ... to me it seems a bit flimsy and I wouldn't trust the weight on the extended barrel.
One or two flashes on brackets with diffusers is just as good.

Thanks for clarifying that John. On the 'F' version there isn't a clamp and if your using a ring flash it's impossible to stop it moving forward due to the weight, so if your trying to do 1:1 and set the lens at that it moves off and you can't see the 1:1 setting through the viewfinder. Very handy thing to have.

Kiron zooms had something similar called Zoomlock and also two movable stops that kept you within a certain range say 5 to 20m.

Hi Colin, It's just like a normal lens except it focuses from 0.3m to INF.
Instead of say 1m to INF. It's probably sharper than a normal lens as well.

From this photo it has a clamp on the side which I presume is to clamp it at say 1:1 magnification so that you can move backwards and forwards until focused. Whatever your photographing will then be fixed at 1:1 magnification. You would need to be in manual focus for this.

Excellent buy at Curry's price

Just click the "Image" button and paste the url.
Make sure that you don't add a space between the
square brackets, it won't show if you do ][

Thanks for a very rude answer to a very simple question
Sorry for asking

All we transfer is RAW+JPG files of fairly consistent size and
it would be nice to know which readers are fast/slow.

Now I can see why Don says we need a "Blaster Button". Until we
get it please get down off your high horse.

Edit: This refers to the post before the one above.

Yet more Transcend problems This time our old friend
Ricehigh link

There's also a test linked from Ricehigh's site and the Transcend
Class 10 aren't that fast anyway. link

The fastest card to copy from reader to computer is a Toshiba Class 10 (white) which did 22,655.6 KB/s.
These are hard to find in the UK (they like to dump rubbish here) but there is a UK seller with some on Ebay
for £18 (8GB) Post Free.

Unfortunately the card reader they usedBuffalo USB Card
Reader "BSCRA38U2". Turbo USB ON USB Turbo is ON
isn't available in the UK either..... we have to make
do with stuff from Poundland that might do 4MB/s with
the wind behind it

You must have a fast reader What make and model is it?

You really need to test with about 200MB of RAW and JPG's or with
Win 7 copy a full card and watch the transfer rate.

A lot of Transcend cards use Samsung chips.

To me this forum works better than any of the ones based on off the shelf packages, many of which use identical skins. This one is very individual.

What ruins the look and interface of most forums is having to display the name of the software and the name of the skin designer.

I can't really see any reason why you should be criticizing the code over how old it is etc. It works and that's all that matters.
