The US Mag "Modern Photography" used to take a camera to bits like that when they were testing it..... but.. they also put it back together

I think they look vile.

I have a Series 1 28-90. had it since 1986. great lens apart from mass CA wide open ( but nothing LR can't remove )

Is the 28-105 is as good worth getting but not at that price ( or colour! )
It's not really anything special. I haven't used it much on digital, I bought it for film. Perhaps I should try it again. It did well in "Which Lens" tests.... too good in fact.... possibly sample variation

I keep meaning to join the Yahoo Kiron Club to see what they rate.
The 35-135mm seems good, I've only tested it at 135mm and it was
almost as good as the Pentax 135mm M f/3.5.... hardly anything in
it, but the convenience of a macro zoom.

Some Kiron Zooms have a Zoomlock and stops to limit the focus
between two points.

I've not got a Pentak

I've got the black version of the 28-105mm in both Cosina and Kiron.
The Gold one looks like the Cosina version (the 67mm filter is the giveaway).. The Kiron was the better lens.

The other one looks like the v4 Cosina (58mm filter) which wasn't the best.

Ricoh pin on 28-105mm but never had any problems with it.... it's rounded.

The price seems very high for a couple of Cosinas

This is a good example of why you can't rely on "User Reviews"

One gives this shaver 9/10 the other 3/10 Then you see it's a
Philishave..... nuff said

I use Yvon Bourque's one(the link from xbow above).

I'm always hesitant about using a tape measure. How can you be sure what the camera is focusing on?
Well the little red square in the view finder is pretty small. I assume that this point is the where the camera focusses.

I use the chart now but when used a tape measure it produced a calibration that worked.
I've never found the little red square to be very accurate and the flat lens tests are pretty useless unless you stand something up vertical that you can actually focus on.

The expensive Lensalign is much better because it gives you a vertical target. The poormans solution is probably something along the lines of a Cornflake box with a 12" ruler on a 45deg ramp at the side.

It's also impossible to focus accurately by any means, every time so you need to take at least 4 shots and compare them.

It's a pre-set Focuses to 1M as well

For tripod use the aperture ring at that end of the lens
is a lot more convenient, like the Helios 135mm's.

I might offer £25

They could well hear something from Olympus about it

Edit: Are Olympus being serious £60 for a lens cap
