From what I've read about the cameras on display and public handling it sounds like Pentax did quite a good job and yesterday I thought the title was very misleading, so I agree with John's decision to change it to reflect the view of the majority of posts in the thread. Hopefully Steve will accept that.

There have been a few threads on here that need changing such as one I saw criticizing Pentax for not even going to the show.

Remember Canon weren't even there.

There are probably 2 types of 6x6 lenses, some not too sharp and some that are exceptional. Generally lenses are designed for the highest MTF wide open, sometimes they may just use an old design such as Tessar.

My Bronica S2A 75mm Nikkor lens tested out at a maximum of 140lpmm the same as my Pentax A 50mm f/1.7. The lens on my Koni-Omega 6x7 went right of the scale

Some Koni-Omega scans (not mine). Scroll down to the larger pics lower down the page.

The extra 1 Zone on Ansel Adams Zone scale for 6x4.5 and greater comes from the film/film development and not the lens.

I sold my M 200mm f/4 when I realised that it was identical in sharpness to my M 80-200mm which is a very good lens.... so good I bought TWO!
I've never found anything that's better than it the A 70-210mm f/4 is equal but bigger.

The A 28mm f/2.8 is an excellent lens. Some interesting MTF Tests on Pentax lenses here including some of the OLD junk
It's not very clear on the website, but the above link is to Page 2 of the review. The Graphs and other results are on Pages 1 3 4 5 6 which are accessed just below the Nikon 35 / 1.8 notes.

There are some 55-500mm shots in this thread.

I think it's and excellent lens and often use it instead of the 300mm A* or 300mm DA* because of the versatility of the zoom.

It's not true that MF lenses aren't as sharp as 35mm a lot of them are just as good.

This guys even used a 165mm with a 2x converter and got very good results.
