are the 'RF-602' a bit crap then ?? my RF triggers work fine at 1/180 !!

What make are they?

RF-602'S are excellent and of good build quality. If you need faster than 1/90th you shouldn't need flash I like them for the size especially the one on the camera (receiver)which is quite small.

Used the other way round they are the best remote release available. A RED LED comes on when half-pressed and a GREEN LED for the full press. I use two sets at the same time on different channels to fire the shutter and flash.

The max sync speed of the camera is 180th. I think Tim is referring to his radio triggers.
The RF-602 wireless trigger only works reliably at 1/90th. Sometimes you get a black band at the bottom of the pic at 1/125th. Good unit though because it can also be used to fire the shutter from up to 100M away.

For the best accuracy a WhiBal filter. A grey card is also OK but nowhere near as accurate because the photographed RGB values do vary slightly.

I've also bought a QPCard quite cheap and interesting. You can DL the software for free and try it on a few supplied Jpegs.

I bought the QPcard Sample Pack for around £20
Sorry meant Expodisk not Whibal, Peter's post reminded me of it. Whibal is an expensive piece of grey plastic which is probably better than a normal grey card.

I've not used Excel for years, but, I used to find it very annoying that it couldn't work out Deg. Min. Sec. from Decimal Degrees or the similar Hr. Min. Secs

Lots of people use these and a simple trig. calculator can do it, so why don't spreadsheets? They don't even handle degrees you have to convert to radians first?

I eventually finishd up with the following for the Seconds Col. (not sure if it's right or not)
@INT(60*((60*(N8-@INT(N))-@INT(60*(N8-@INT(N))))

Something in PC Mag about it, but you shouldn't have to do all this

I never use Word either, probably still buggy after all these years. It used to really annoy me that you couldn't Highlight a word with the mouse and then choose Search & Replace.... it was broken Even the early versions of DOS Edit could do that, so could Wordpad but not Word. Just imagine someone having to change a lot of Part No's in a Manual

They partly fixed it in (I think) 2003, but it still didn't work if there was a space or it was two words.

I have to go back to NT5 for the last decent FileManager Winfile
(Still works with XP and W7)

Having no control over what is selected with the mouse when I click on a line is annoying as is the Caps Lock staying on, you would think they would at least make it beep

One of the best you can buy, so it's unlikely to be card related.

Removing AV and Firewall software completely can be a nightmare, some won't even uninstall. Zonealarm used to be one of the worst even though the earlier versions before it became a system hog were quite good.

I still look at MS stuff with "If MS ever make a Vacuum Cleaner it will be the only thing they have ever made that doesn't suck" in the back of my mind

The reviewer obviously knows nothing about how little of the tonal range is available for highlights and how to expose for the highlights In other words he shouldn't be doing the review

This threads about two years old There are some more recent threads on Ext. HDD's but not about streaming.

The External drive is generally just for storing files. Normally you need a separate box such as these from WD to plug the Ext. HDD into, although by now there are probably combined ones available.

If you live near any computer fairs they have a lot of multimedia HDD boxes usually quite cheap. They need to come with a remote control.
