So I thought it was time to begin this thread. I won't be able to make it to Fountains Abbey but I managed to grab a late room at the Royal.

So I will see whoever comes. It makes for a great day out and there are lots of willing models. And of course we will fully respect the feelings of anyone who doesn't wish to be photographed, as we always do!

The more, the merrier. Hopefully we will see a few new faces.

Meeting points are the café on Sandgate between around 8am & 9am then the foot of the church steps on below the East Cliff after that. We'll be there until at least 10am.

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more

how did you get into our hotel, when we have to self cater.

However that does mean I'll be there for breakfast.

I assume it was a late cancellation. I wouldn't have paid that much just for myself, but as Kim wanted to come it was OK for the two of us.

Cant make my mind up whether to stay overnight this year

Of course I could be tempted to stay over if you chaps are up for a night on the town (I may have found somewhere in Whitby instead of making the 30minute trek from Scarborough.

That piece is old news Mike, the writer searched the net for juicy snippets and used many of the quotes out of context, she also used others peoples images in the original article and didn't own up to them not been her own work until someone left a reply commending her photographic skills, even then she continued to use the images without permission, so it would seem her number one rule is rather hypocritical
Quote:
1. Before you take a photograph of anyone, please ask first.

To be fair a lot of what she said makes sense, she just used the wrong people as an example and stole a few pictures, it doesn't bother me (they weren't my pictures),
The fact remains that there will be a lot more people at Whitby that do want their pictures taking than those who don't, you can ask politely and they can refuse politely, no big deal.

You can joke HG, I invited a Goth along my self (Canon 350D user), he got into photography a year or so ago, I thought he might like to try his hand at portraits, but he's busy that weekend.

Who's joking?

My son is up for a trip to Whitby, he'll be in big boots, long leather coat and make up, and all being well we may meet some others he knows there!

I'm only going for the moody shots and to practice my portrait technique(which is currently non existant!!)
Cheers, HG
