It will only be a day for me, I just cannot justify the cash. The Goth event is a great venue to practice portrait photography, although I am inclined to agree with Barry, a bit if a change would be nice.

I have to go the the Goths because of the family getting into it. However from a photography point of view you end up with the same type of images every time. I would not mind going for a new challenge. We could keep the meet on the old dates if that best suits people being able to get away. Any Comments?
Didn't some go to Sherwood forest last year?I have to go the the Goths because of the family getting into it. I would love to meet you guys but it's a little bit more complicated then a day trip for me
We do have a fantasy fair over here if you want something slightly different link
Most of the time some of the Dutch forum also go there.

I was actually a bit bored this time!...as you say Barrie it's the same sort of images all the time!...a change would be as good as a rest!...

I was thinking of Kielder Water. Could be quite pretty in the late autumn. Think they have red squirrels, deer, a few trees and a cafe.

Too many conifers to look pretty in the Autumn!.....and you have to travel miles to spot a Red!....How about Studley royal instead?

It's jsut too far for me. Means staying overnight and don't really want to do that again soon. I'd be interested in anywhere in Northumberland or the Borders. Or Edinburgh, of course!

Edinburgh or surrounds would be interesting. DFDS offer some short breaks to Scotland for a good price. We were considering one to Drymen, but decided against it, for now at least. But they also have city trips to Edinburgh for about €150 pp. TT could join us too - she knows the way from Glasgow to Edinburgh .
That said Studley Royal would also be good - I have a brother who lives just north of York.
Either way the more notice the better - I can then see if I can get a cheaper ferry fare.

I think we should leave Whitby for those who want to go. It's a firm fixture for me at least. As for the next meet it has been difficult to arrange winter meets in the past.

I agree. Maybe we can look into another meet next year sometime - if you go to Whitby in spring then maybe somewhere else in the autumn?I think we should leave Whitby for those who want to go. We may yet pluck up courage for Drymen in the winter. If we do I'll let you know.

Just to bring this to the fore again.
The more the merrier. Whitby is a great wee town and the Goth weekend is the best time to take both posed and candid photos.
Too late for acommodation in the town now but Scarborough isn't far.

Wa hoping to make a long weekend of it, but the dates don't coincide with school holidays, so can't
It was a little far for a day trip, but I might consider the autumn one again...depending on "events"

I'm planning to be there again. It'll be the Saturday for me.
Shall we start with bacon sarnies in that cafe in the side street just off the Swing Bridge again?

The idea was to get a thread up and running ASAP Ted, it seems a lot of people would have liked to come this year but left it a little late, now they have no excuse
