Which Wide Prime?

As it's summer and the light is reasonable I have lately taken to carrying my Bigma around in a small rucksack with just the K10D body but am finding 50mm is not wide enough. Trouble is the bag is too small to get in my DA* 16-50mm f2.8 or Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 as well so I am looking at buying a small prime under 50mm. I am thinking DA 35mm macro as it would give me macro capability as well but I'm not sure 35mm is wide enough for the odd landscape either. Can anyone give me an idea of what I should be looking at .. pricewise I am thinking under £300 and would prefer AF.

If it wasn't for the AF stipulation I could think of half a dozen, but if you want AF then only the DA21 really springs to mind as being wide and (more importantly) compact. Image quality is rather good too apparently...

Yep, just take the DA 21 LTD. And while your are doing that, start saving for the DA 15 LTD. Eventually you want that also

I had the 21mm ltd and sold it to a forum member and purchased a Sigma 10-20. I hadn't regreted my decision up until my last trip too central Australia. Lots of walking and some climbing had me wishing I had hung onto it.

That said I think the Sigma is a cracking lens

No,not yet. It is crying out to me also.
But the compact design, the LTD quality makes it a real wannahave.

Compared to excellent Sigma 10-20 it is s0 desirable. I shall try and sell the Piaggio and raise the funds! I have seen some sample images and they look as you'd expect.

I might put in a vote for the 31 ltd.

It is expensive, and not too small. But apart from this, its is an absolutely unbelievable lens.

If its completely out of your price range, then probably the 21mm.

The 31 isn't terribly wide but IF the length suits AND the 31 is too much then I'd suggest the 35mm f2 (not the macro which is 2. which I find is an almost permanent fixture on my body. But if you can afford it I'm sure the 31 would be better than the 35.

Or buy a slightly larger bag that'll take your 16-50mm also. It's the cheapest option

Yes I suddenly realised today that may be the cheaper way of doing it

You wont find a bag for your needs believe me, you will be more satisfied withe a new lens then a new bag

Although John Riley showed a very nice bag 2 months or so ago, they looked great.

The thing is the bag is only a few weeks old and cost me £17 (Lowenpro rucksack) so I think it would be preferable to spend £350 on a 21mm rather than throw the bag away

The problem is your K10 is too big to fit in your bag!

You need a smaller body, that would help!

So get a K-m!

No the K-7 is also smaller and an upgrade instead of a downgrade, you even had one so why didn't you thought about it?
