That's got very little to do with currency fluctuations and a lot to
do with being a plain blatant rip-off

Yep, mine will be arriving any day - I had also noticed the price hike. Chris said I bought the second to last one at it's original price.

Agreed, but please make sure that anger is vented towards Pentax, and not Chris @ SRS, it's not his fault!

If you see the new RRP list, 12-24 @ £1199, 60-250 @ £1499, You'll understand!

Sounds like Pentax are pricing themselves out of markets worldwide.
Taken from Ricehigh's Blog link about Hong Kong prices.

========= quote ===============================
Afterall, it is just a joke for an APS-C DA prime with F4 widest aperture can be sold more expensive than both a Canon FF EF 70-400/4L and a EF 17-40L, which are selling for at around HK$5,500 at HK streets. The Pentax new 18-55 kit is also doubled the price of the Canon 18-55 IS kit. Really much ridiculous..
=======end quote================================

Strange that after saying that the 18-55mm wasn't up to scratch
at the K20D launch and recommending (I think) the 16-45mm they
are again promoting the 18-55mm, but I haven't seen any mention
of it being improved optically. Why sell your top product with a
sub-standard lens.

If you look at other manufactures prices, you will see the same right across the board they have all gone up, a Nikon D300 body went up over £300, Pentax are one of the last to raise prices and not as much as some.
When I was much younger,that was many years ago, there were cameras and lenses that were just looked at and longed for, but the cost was far to much for ordinary people.
But I have a 60-250mm coming, last but one, (at the old price) thanks Chris (SRS)
