It'll be one year more advanced than the current Toshiba, so there is a bit of hope to steal a march on caNikon at least for short time.
Joe Blogs won't even ask what brand the imaging sensor is and just as well as the sales person probably won't know or even care.
True, but it's nice to be at least optimistic that the K-3 sensor won't suffer from the long-exposure banding that the D7100 is alleged to.

I haven't researched it to any depth, but it's not hard to find people that think that it's worse than the D7000 in this respect.
Thats part of what I'm hoping too...

My D7000 only ever has a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR on it and works very very well. If I put my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 on the K5 it does not come close as far as tracking and AF speed. I get great results from my Pentax's for long exposures if and when I do that type of shot.

Best regards

I'm hoping the latest Sony sensor with the New milbeaut will give faster and cleaner files than the Toshiba because the processing should be superior, it may not give a vastly better signal to noise ratio but I'm not expecting to see as much banding and colour blotching when the files are pushed a bit...
Cheers Jules...

D7000 walks all over the K5II for tracking moving subjects, the D300, walks all over the the D7000, The K5 walks all over them both, in pretty much everything else though

I can't comment on the D300 Jules as I've never used one.

And as Chris A says, maybe they just ran out of room?
Just so long as they had room for an electronic level that works this time round.

If it's as rubbish in the K-3 as it is in the K-5, you all better duck, since my toys will be emerging from my pram at warp factor 8.

How's the level in the K5-II by the way?
Mine works perfectly in my K30 AND K5

Michael

Nobody disputes that it works perfectly on some examples of the K-5.

They should have got someone who can pronounce some of the technical terms.

'auto-focus' 'moiré' 'aliasing'

Seriously ..

I hope the camera itself is better than that great big fat piece of marketing BS. 'Designed to be the highest performing of all the K-Series cameras.' No s**t, Sherlock!

Hey, don't shoot the messenger bud!
I agree with you here, I was wondering what Otto focus was?
Maybe Zeiss's version?
Well I suppose it it the Highest K series but it's kind of obvious I suppose, maybe designed for our mates over the pond, so they can get a few "Awesome" and "In the Hole" and "Blown Away's" in while they are watching the Ad?

Not at all shooting the messenger!!

Worth a post for sure, but videos like that just bring out the worst in me. That would have cost them at least a five figure sum to produce, and all it needed as a narrator was someone who had had a five minute briefing on how to read.

It's the sort of attention to detail that one hopes is present in the engineering and QA departments, because it's woefully absent in marketing.

Bring back Kai, all is forgiven.

More good news!
Long winded, just cut to the Chase!

According to a Ricoh IR presentation:
"As a result of transformation of the camera business, we established Ricoh Imaging by integrating Ricoh and PENTAX. We are forecasting a profit for this bus@iness within this fiscal year."

"In the other segment, we will continue to pour resources into Digital SLRs, Mirrorless cameras and Ricoh’s conventional high-end compact cameras to make this into a solid business. We are seeing an increase in share and expect healthy growth."

"Digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras, mirrorless SLRs and premium compact cameras are very popular, and selling well."
