If the K3-II is discontinued link what will be the next APS-C model?

A brilliant camera I hope. No idea about model number. Hopefully it will buck the trend of gradually getting bigger and heavier. No doubt wifi, tilty screens etc all compulsory. Better action all planes AF on most people's list I guess. A finer high ISO 20 mp perhaps?

I will probably buy just before they withdraw it as I did with my bargain late K3 (two weeks before new model) with extra trade in from SRS. Expect such offers on the K3 MK II if enough sitting around in warehouses.

K-3ii replacement will be interesting, agree about the tilty screen, however perhaps this will be the camera that Pentax bring improved focus to for sports etc, or improved video functionality. These are the things that most reviews are critical of and that would appeal to those who are not yet in Pentaxland.

Personally I am very happy with my K-3 ii, and being neither a video buff nor a sports photographer, it is unlikely that I will upgrade from K-3 ii any time soon.

Things I would like to see Ricoh develop are new primes for the K-1, some development in the Q line (EVF & telephoto macro!) and just maybe a K-02 (also with EVF). Yes, I know the latter two are somewhat unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

PS The Pentax Rumours website publish 'Fake News' e.g. on 23 Jan 2016: Pentax smc FA 43mm f/1.9 limited series lens listed as discontinued. I took delivery of a new one from SRS yesterday and believe me, it is alive and kicking. Born 1997 still going strong, it will be 20 this year, Party!

I think perhaps they want to limit competition for the K70, and we know it's all about sales. Read (non Pentax) that the K1 is the first step towards other FF cameras.

I really considered the K3 II, but bought a K1. The K3 II was about $ 1,000 cheaper and an excellent camera, and a big step up from my K5. but I have two other APS-C cameras, so I sprung for the K1 which, so far, has been a great camera especially in the IQ area, and can now use my old primes.

I've also noticed other camera manufactures still producing expensive APS-C cameras. So, will Pentax come out with another hi-end APS-C? Or perhaps a less expensive FF?

I'll only ever change my K5's for better autofocus tracking

I'd like the return of the split prism focussing as found on the ME and MX. Not expecting that to happen though. I'd really like a digital version of the ME/MX, full frame of course!

As long as it doesn't go along with the current trend of high-grade APS-C or m4/3 cameras that are even more expensive than FF models, I think we'll be fine.

I don't know about the camera body but I guess we'll see the 16-50* and 50-135* lenses updated this year. The camera bodies already do more than I need. Sometimes it seems like a race to see who can add the most bells and whistles. A step forward in noise management/reduction would be good.

So a reduction in the number of megapixels then?
24 > 20?

I shouldn't think they would do that on the flagship model, it would be "courageous" I was thinking continued advances in sensor technology and electronics, my guess is the pixel count will remain the same.
On a side note, a 24 mega pixie FF would be the only thing that might tempt me away from APS-C sized sensor. Fun to speculate.
