what is your AF history?

My first AF camera was an Olympus IS3000 with a 35-180 inbuilt zoom. Superb piece of kit that recorded several years worth of images of family life.

The next AF was my Minolta Maxum 7. I thought long and hard about buying it against the Pentax MZS, the advertising and the huge digital screen on the rear won the day.

I then bought an MZS followed by my istD, Maxum 7D, K10D, Nikon D700 and my K7.

I still have them all.

I have not included point and shoot cameras of which there are a good few in my cupboards.

What was your route?

My K-m was my first AF camera, although I've now got an MZ50 and SF7 which I bought for the lenses attached to them. Prior to that I had a K1000, then P30 and P30T

Pentax Z1, then Canon EOS 100, Canon 300D, followed by a Pentax K20d. Still got the Z1 and the 100, and have just purchased a Contax G1 and lenses. Cant wait to try it out if the weather ever gets better

My K10D was (and is) my only AF SLR - everything prior to that had been manual focus.

My first AF camera (non SLR) was my Leica Minilux, followed by several AF digital compacts.

my first SLR was an MZ-7, an 18th birthday pressie. That went on holiday with me for several years, but never went to University because I considered the risk of it being lost stolen or damaged too great. There followed a succession of cheap MF K mount bodies from ebay, starting with a Ricoh KR-5 Super II.

Eventually I decided I wanted an AF/AE body for fencing photography and bought an MZ-50 second hand on ebay, then an SFX because the MZ-50 was too limited in handling older lenses with its crippled mount. Finally I bought a Z-50p which is probably my favourite film AF SLR, but less than a month later I got my *istDL2 and the rest is digital.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

My first AF was an SFX then SFXn, Z50P, Z1P, istD, K10D, I also have a Nikon coolpix 4500 which I sometimes use for digiscoping. The Z50P is the quietest Pentax I have owned, but the Z1P was easy to use because it was supplied with a hand strap which makes it much easier to hold when you have a heavy lens attached, you can still get them but only in the States why?

An istDL was my first AF camera, quickly followed by and istDS and then istD. I then moved on to the K10 - K20 and now the K7. Yes I still have them all...

The MZ-5 was the first Pentax camera that motivated me to buy after the MX and ME Super.

I fancied some of the AF film cameras, but never coughed up the cash, so stuck with MF until digitalising with the *ist DS. Then K10D, K20D, K-7.

Z1 was the only auto focus film camera I ever had. Moved to the ist DS when I went digital at the end of 2005 and then on to the K10 three years ago.
