Favourite albums of all time

Bored at work, and since films and beer have been discussed at great length lately, I thought how about a favourite albums thread.

In true 'High Fidelity' style, I'm going for my Top 5 albums (in no particular order):

Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
The Colour And The Shape - Foo Fighters
The Bends - Radiohead
The Joshua Tree - U2

Oddly though, my favourite song of all time doesn't appear on any of the above (You've Got The Love by The Source feat. Candi Staton).

The only rule I ask, only one album from any artist/band.

Gosh!!! You must be bored. I expected a photograph album!!

Aerial ( Disk 2 ); Kate bush

And various folk / rock / goth / metal / classical etc. Depending on my mood at the time.

It depends on my mood really.

Pornograffiti by Extreme is great for doing housework to, anything by the Chilli Peps, earlier rather than later also good. Appetite for Destruction from GN'R, early Aerosmith too.
Sweet Baby James, James Taylor, Bridge over Trouble Water for a bit of youthful sentimentality. Graceland and Buena Vista Social Club just to move to.
Anything by REM.

Or Rory Block, or Bonnie Raitt or Robert Johnson or Leadbelly.

Jools Holland, Bill Wyman, Venice. All really good when I'm in the mood.

So no, no single favourite album I'm afraid.

I don't know if I can come up with an all time list, it changes quite often! It would probably feature something by The Doors, Pink Floyd, and U2.

However times change and my favorites 5 of the last few years would probably be something like this

Back to Black - Amy Winehouse
Play - Moby
A Funk Odyssey - Jamiroquai
Gorillaz - Gorillaz

Yep, one of my favourites too, but Passion Play trumps it (IMHO)

I'm probably of the newer generation that listen to songs instead of whole albums, I've some but I only listen to some songs on it never truly the whole album.

- Audioslave - Audioslave (great American rock band)
- Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society O.S.T - Yoko Kanno (various songs and styles, from blues/jazz to classical)
- Hymn to the Immortal Wind - Mono (Japanese post-rock band quite dreamy)
- Trouble - Ray Lamontagne (American folk singer with a great voice with a lot of emotion)
- Takk... - Sigur Rós (Icelandic post-rock, yeah I know how to find them )

wow I got 5, never thought I would make it.

Audioslave is a good album, the two follow-up albums aren't bad either. That said, seeing as they are 3/4 of Rage Against The Machine, I was always going to like them!

Well actually I have a confession to make

I dont know how I managed to do it but I got my albums confused

That line should read "Songs from the Wood/Jethro Tull"

Depends on the mood but they include:

John Lees' Barclay James Harvest - Legacy (a live CD and I was there)
Dr John - Trippin' Live (for the same reason)
Bob Dylan - No Mercy
Echo and the Bunnymen - More Songs to Learn and Sing
Elvis Costello - The Man

If you asked me tomorrow it would probably be a different list, but I've liked this lot for a long time.
