Unfortunately it can't be fixed in time, so apologies to all, hopefully next time will be fine.

Congratulations to Amoringello.

The standard was very high yet again, so well done to everyone.

No comments for each photo? I was looking forward to reading some, because I have learned SO much from reading them over the weeks since I joined this forum. Are they just not posted yet or in another spot?:

OK, sorry, found them....gotta get used to this.

Thanks a lot Stephen. Personally, I really expected the hot chocolate to come out on top. But all of the entries were pretty darned good and it could not have been easy to make a final decision.

I'll add a new competition as soon as I can in the morning. Guess that would be afternoon for most.

I'm not sure whether I put the comments in the right place either.

K2L, can you say a little more about what made you choose the winner - I learn so much this way.
Like yourself I am learning, hence my user name.

The choice of winner was difficult as all the entries were excellent.
The theme of "sweet tooth" was, to me, summed up in the winning photo.
A young lad, alone, with his hands in his pockets looking through the glass fronted counter at all the goodies on display. His mouth must of been watering and his eyes bulging.
The large counter, all the lights and colours, must of been like Christmas for someone so young with a sweet tooth.

It was not easy, I could of easily had 4 or 5 different winners for whatever reason.
Technically I am no expert and due to the high standard of all the entries I decided to recommend them all.

Good luck Amoringello with the next competition and judging.

Thanks for that, perhaps the next theme could be 'Chocolate-based beverages'...

I loved Prieni's gummi bears, but thought "where did he get blue ones from?" Then I noticed the glow in front of them - yellow ones photoshopped! Just proves my point in another thread that it's easy to miss things when you start playing about with them. Still an excellent shot though, think it would have been my winner.

Well done Keen2Learn, nicely judged. Hopefully this week we can finally get the closing time sorted so that no-one misses out on submitting their entries. Giving Tree's donuts are making me hungry...

Thanks Daniel!
On the blue bears, I took them from the same bag that the black ones were in
I didn't miss the shadows on them, just couldn't get it right (though I succeeded yesterday evening). That leaves the shadows of the black ones (they are still too light).
The submitted version (as well as the slightly improved one I have now) is more like a "proof of concept", i.e. I now know what to do; it's only a question of doing it properly again (which admittedly is a bit dull )

I was quite pleased with the shadows with my single point light source (AF540FGZ), but I guess one could play a bit more with the position. Also having a big enough background (instead of the three sheets of A4 paper) would save some time in removing the edges.

BTW: Did you notice that the "false colour" of the blue bears is more apparent on the thumbnail?

I am being really thick today I know, but where are the judging comments? I gather that amoringello won as he has started the new comp, but I see no judgement anywhere. Help please!

Gwyn, it's in the competition itself. Go to Competion, click on comp. #58 and then scroll down from there.

I did that but I see no comments

Right, just did it again. So all you see is the winner pic, right? Under the heading "Kid in a Gelato Store" there is a path. When you click on "weekly competition" you get to the same competition but now with the comments.

Hope that works,
