I have three cameras. one has a pentax grip.
in the studio and on the job the one with the grip gets used most.

I have the grip on my K-7, although i used the camera for a long time without before I had the grip. I tend to use 'portrait' orientation quite a bit and I just like the way the grip makes the whole camera that bit chunkier. I do take it off though if I'm going to use a tripod (which is not often). When I use the camera now ungripped hand-held, it feels decidedly odd...

I have one on my K10D and like Matt it's basically there to make the camera "chunkier" in my hands .. it just feels much better and also with a lens on like the Bigma it isn't so unbalanced at the front.
This K-7 I got yesterday feels like a toy without one ... I will be putting a grip on it.

I have one but it has only been on my camera for 5 minutes. I find it too uncomfortable, the finger grip is too narrow for my liking. I also don't have any BIG lenses that would alter the camera balance eough to make it worth sticking on. I should really sell it and get a decent flash....

I use one on my K20 but not on my K7, I mostly use the K7 with my limiteds and it not only looks goofy with a grip it just adds unnecessary weight.

Ditto to all of the above the K7 feels small with out it on,the only problem I have is removing the grip to charge the battery.

You don't have to remove the grip, I have 3 batteries for the K20 and have it setup to use the grip battery first, when that battery runs down it switches over to the body battery, I then remove and replace the grip battery with the spare and it will default back to the grip when turned back on. Ditto to all of the above the K7 feels small with out it on,the only problem I have is removing the grip to charge the battery.

I use a grip on both my K20's and double up on the battery's witch I find battery life is extended.
how ever I all way forget to use the stutter button on the grip it's just more natural to use the camera's one in the studio i all ways use a tripod and cable any way.
IMO the camera feels better with the grip and would never leave home with out it on the camera

On my K20D, definitely and absolutely. It feels much better and the vertical controls are extremely useful, as is the extended battery life.
Funnily though, I also find using my K-m to be a great experience - I don't long for extra room around the grip as I do if I used my K20D grip-less.

The grip hasn't been off my K20D since I bought it a few weeks ago. Didn't think I'd enjoy the extra size and weight but have actually much preferred it. Extra battery is a bonus, as is a place to store an extra SD card and my wireless remote.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

I too have the grip permanently on my K20D. Most of the time I am using it handheld with either the DA*300mm or the Sigma 150-500mm and I find it adds a good balance, as well as a larger grip area.
I recently got myself a K7 and do not yet have a grip, although it's mostly had the 16-45mm or Sigma 105mm on, not the larger lenses.

The grip stays on my K20D all the time and like a lot of others it feels very odd without it. I much prefer that chunkier feel and am happy with the additional weight that that brings with it.
I wonder if Pentax would ever look at building bodies that are "full size" (couldn't think of a better description) as an option?
