I was so impressed with the Yashinon R pre-set, seen on the previous page... I bought another two!

The one on the right, is the big brother of the 13.5cm we've already seen. A 20cm (200mm) Telephoto pre-set. In lovely condition and weighs a ton! It is not quite as sharp as It's little brother, in the shoebox test, but still pretty bloody good!

The tiny one on the left, is a 5cm f2.8 cousin of the other two. Also pre-set, but it has a fixed M42 mount. Not a T mount, like the other two. And it is very tiny. Only a little bit bigger than the Industar 50mm f3.5 (which I have also bought recently). This little beauty is sharp! It put in a very good showing on the shoebox.

Yes. I have become a big fan of these ancient Yashinons.

That looks remarkably similar to the Mayfair Sankor 200mm/f4.0 I bought recently. Which has a K mount. I bet they were made by the same manufacturer.

I paid 15 for it and it's mint.

Quite possibly, Smeggy. I suspect that a great many of these skinny drainpipe pre-set 135s, were made by the same manufacturer. According to Algi, possibly Tomioka.

Gissa look at it! - I know it's a fiver over the regulation, but I'm willing to turn a blind eye. I'd like to see it here.

Weirdly I'm keeping an eye open for the Mayfair Sankor 35mm, as I've got what I believe to be the original case for one (came with an Auto Takumar 55mm which it definitely isn't from). They seem well thought of and the case is in decent condition.

Ah!. 200mm. I thought you meant 135. Didn't read your post carefully enough. Even better. It's a corker! Thanks for showing. Nicely photographed, too!

Thanks. It's not so mint now. I dropped the f**ker about 4 feet to a wooden floor just before snapping it. Clumsy arse I am - built like a tank though and it survived. Just hope I haven't misaligned any elements.

I used my Pentax-A 50/1.2 to snap it. Simply becuase that was on the camera at the time. - I oughta do some lens porn shots at 1.2 with some bokeh really. but I'm too knackered tonight.

You should really up the thread to lenses under 50. Lots of interesting stuff about.

just a brief observation: mayfair sankor sounds like mamiya sekor.

i suspect that was probably done on purpose. the mamiya 50/1.4 in m42 is a beaut.

Ha! Ha! That made me laugh You would have thought they would have
called it MaMaMia Senor!

Mayfair either because they thought it sounded posh or it
was a line for a dealer in Mayfair?

Sankor either a brand name or made by Sankyo?

Seggy!!! Oh me gawd. You dropped it!

I'm sorry. I feel a little responsible, for making you photograph it at such a late hour, after a no doubt hard day.

Alternatively...

Smeggy!!! You clumsy, ham fisted Twat!. That beautiful thing is probably older than both of us. It was sombody's pride and joy before anyone had heard of the Beatles. It was on someone's camera when Harold McMillan was telling us we'd never had it so good. It dates from a time when WE used to manufacture thing, too, instead of buying everything from bloody China!. At it's birth we were a big fish in the world, with the fag end of an empire, instead of just an second rate little island province of Europe, governed by a bunch of self serving and largely unelected crooks.
That lens has seen a lifetime of happy memories. Happy family holidays in cornwall, perhaps. Or captured the joy on the face of little Dennis, as he opened his Meccano set on Christmas morning of 1961.
Yes, boy!.. That lens had lived...

..And you go and bleedin' well drop it! You clumsy oaf, you!

I recall reading somewhere that "Sankor" were a well-respected brand of movie camera lenses?

I have seen 35mm and 200mm Mayfair Sankor preset lenses, and I suspect a 135mm too. They wouldn't have bothered making a 50mm/55mm as their target market already had those.

I am still waiting for my Auto Takumar 55mm f2.2, which qualifies for this thread on price but not on the "generic lens" part.

Sankyo were one of the biggest makers of movie cameras. They also
made projectors. The lenses were Sankor which I presume was their
own brand. They also made amorphic (not sure of the spelling)cine
lenses which I think fit other makes as well.
