Success

I'm not usually one for blowing my own trumpet, but on this occasion please excuse me if I do.

Just under a year ago I posted an image up on the Your Photos forum, and got some very useful advice from a number of people.

The final image as a print has been very successful for me, winning quite a few awards and lots of acceptances in competitions in the UK and abroad.

Well I recently heard of another success, getting a medal in the prestigious London Salon - see my Blog Entry.

The salon exhibition will be displayed in London and then in Birmingham in August, and I would recommend it to anybody who wants to see some good pictorial photographs.

Many thanks to all the people who contributed advice on improving the image.

That photo with the pearls is absolutely stunning Tim, great concept and execution.

Happy to expand on the comment I made on the pages of your forum portfolio .

Your work, Tim, is of an exceptionally high standard, both technically and artistically. Any 'serious' photographer will recognise intuitively the sustained effort and dedication required to produce art of such quality. In my opinion, therefore, you have every right to 'blow your trumpet' - loud and Dizzy style .

Thanks everyone. I have won things before but this one was a bit special because of the photographers who judged it.

The image actually needed quite a bit of work on it, as it was taken in the models flat with a single Jessops Portaflash light - who needs expensive studio equipment
Is also shows that you can make a silk purse out of a sows ear, or however the phrase goes!!!

As for the skin people who have not seen the original think I used some form of make-up, but in fact I used the good old Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, taking down that saturation of the red, yellows and magentas until I got the skin tone I liked. I was trying to make her look like a bit like a statue.
