Hi,
Well as it was bought over the phone under the distance selling rules every company has to give a cooling off period. I bought the K10d off ebay and was a good buy.

If i bought it over the phone or internet you would have had no choice. Its UK consumer law and not even you are exempt.

Incorrect!!
Go to the consumer rights website and it clearly states that if you change your mind within 7 days you are entitled to a full refund!!
SRS wouldnt shoot themselves in the foot by giving a refund unless they had to.

Well, correct or not, whatever happened to having a close relationship with a supplier where problems would be dealt with because it was to everyone's mutual benefit.
If we rely purely on the letter of the law I think it diminishes the spirit of good business principles. Companies often exceed the requirements of the law to maintain goodwill.

I only went to SRS as i heard such good things on here. My experience was in fact the opposite. I called 3 times to buy and the first 2 times i was met by a demonic sounding chap with no apparant interest in selling me anything. I was just expecting a friendly company and in honestly got a cold service.

What would you have done if the K10D did not fit your hand or had a fault would you send it back to the e-bay seller..NO of cause not.
May I suggest that you try things first before buying that way it saves people running around for pain in the butt buyers.

Sounds like Tooks had no patience, had a quick sex change and kept Chris too busy to deal with customers
tsk tsk
In all seriousness, I think we've had examples on here of members going back to Chris and getting good service in the customer-retailer sense I mean....Why did Matt not get the service? Something in his manner?

Well, ideally of couse that is what you would do, and I have always been a bit of a champion for the local shop, preferring to use them for the very reason of being able to try stuff out, get quality advice and return faulty goods without the hassle of posting it back.May I suggest that you try things first before buying that way it saves people running around for pain in the butt buyers
The trouble is, as more and more business is done online, the shops start to dissapear and as we are reading more and more its very difficult to find a local shop that stocks Pentax. It was for this reason that I found SRS (who in my opinion are excellent by the way).
But if you can find a local stockist is it ethical as a policy to expect to use them to try stuff out and then buy online anyway, surely thats why they are dissapearing.
What the answer is I dont know but online suppliers must be used to this or should expect to get more of this kind of return. This extends to all areas of online shopping I suppose

Matt,
"We" are biased because we have the right to be biased.
Your example is NOT a normal example of customer care, it is an EXTRAORDINARY example where YOU have made the wrong choice, and the shop was KIND enough to apply the law in the minimum possible time, refunding you, over a CARD payment that could take up to 7 days only to process.
I am glad you don't realize how stupid is your choice of purchasing a camera off of ebay, and not through a VERY TRUSTED seller like SRS.
The forum is friendly enough, and the advice given is most of the times of the best kind.
The advice is:
1 try before you buy
2 don't rush to conclusions
3 understand that you get what you pay for, and a shop like SRS is thankfully very busy these days, and it is because they've made sure to have very happy customers.
4 If you find yourself a better service in another forum, and at jessops, good luck, and you'll need lots of it.

Typical.....,In the other very similar thread we had one person having a
" screw loose or missing " , if I remember correctly. Obviously he had some family............ Much resemblance with my own country. Being successful here in what ever kind of field, still produces reactions like this. Success is a dirty word, and must be equalised so it doesn't stand out to much from the crowd. Sick.....
Martin.
