Not a bad issue at all this time (I found the Sharpening Techniques item especially helpful), and the Your Gallery section was one of the strongest I can remember. Well done to those that entered and got through.

Next issues topic looks interesting- still life. Something we could all have a go at without needing special equipment, and from the comfort of home.

To the uninitiated. What is 'Still life'?
Photography can be so perplexing at times!

Still life is an arrangement of objects that is then photographed. A bit like flower arranging but with whatever you wish - old boxes, a knife and fork and a dead pheasant covered in cobwebs, for example, would make the ingredients for a classic still life.

The objects chosen are arranged in a pleasing way.

It can be quite difficult to create a really good stiil life image.

It's where you carefully arrange groups of objects on a table and paint / photograph them.

Sorry John I posted at the same time as you. But 'a dead pheasant covered in cobwebs'? (Mental note to politely decline any dinner invitation to Riley Towers...)

Thank you all for the still life update - Goes to show, there is no such thing as a stupid question

Will pass on dead things though - unless they are about 5 million years old!

I am watching for the best 'classic' deffinition.

I could actually raise a dead phesant, but where would I get the cobwebs!!??

Might just have a shot at this, if only I could master uploading the pics.

Thanks from me too. Setting up the website is going to be on the back burner for a while though.

"Still life" is not really my thing so it'll be a challenge to come up with something.

Best wishes, Kris.

If you can get the pheasant, take a look here for plenty of ideas.

Uploading for the magazine is very easy, just ask when you're ready and if you need help I'm sure you'll get it.

Have a look at Gary Hickin's excellent feature in the current Pentax Magazine.
