Just have, David. Came in the post this morning. Still!! Life goes on and so do the challenges.

Dan. After a dozen frustrating attempts to upload pics to the Forum, I guess I am so thick as to be unteachable. Have my son visiting soon. I will try his patience.
Nathanever82 (Where is he, these days) gave me precise instructions yonks ago. Never fathomed it.

I could actually raise a dead phesant, but where would I get the cobwebs!!??
Your powers of avian resurrection aside, I find the best recipe for cobwebs is: SPIDER + TIME.
Listen to my albums free on BandCamp. Or visit my main website for links to photography, etc.

I hope Heston Blumenthal isn't reading this. It'll give him ideas.

Still life is an arrangement of objects that is then photographed. A bit like flower arranging but with whatever you wish - old boxes, a knife and fork and a dead pheasant covered in cobwebs, for example, would make the ingredients for a classic still life.

The objects chosen are arranged in a pleasing way.

It can be quite difficult to create a really good stiil life image.
I suspect that Rembrandt might take issue with that definition.

Do you mean to the gallery/weekly competition, or adding them to posts in the forum?

Dan

EDIT: Just had a look at your portfolio, so I can see you can add photos to the gallery! You do submissions to the mag in the same way, but tick the box to say it's a 'Magazine Gallery Competition' entry. It doesn't appear in the gallery then until the magazine's been published.

Well, I hope you won't be meeting him anytime soon.

Dan. The Gallery is a doddle. Why does it have to be so long winded for the Forum. I know! I have had it explained.
Would be interesting to put pics on the Forum so that the experts could have a field day.
Also interested in moving some of my excess baggage but would need pictures, I guess.
Guess I'm kinda happy in my ignorance. The Gallery keeps me motivated, and occasionally I get a kind comment to cheer an old photographer up a little.
Now! What did I have to do with that pheasant. Oh! Yes. Find some spiders.

Apparently the restriction is there to reduce bandwidth. If a picture is hosted on the PU server and then viewed by thousands of people, it costs money.

Nobody looks at the gallery pictures of course, so they don't constitute a problem.

Thoramay, I'm going to describe how I link to images in this forum - with screenshots to make it absolutely clear. I use Firefox for my web browser but Internet Explorer and Safari have similar commands.

1) First of all, upload your picture to flickr (or Photobucket or whatever).

Then right click on the image which brings up the 'copy image location' option. (Alternatively you can copy the URL from the bottom of the page where it says '2. Grab the photo's URL' but I find right clicking quicker).

2) In your forum post in PentaxUser Forum, click the Image button at the bottom.

3) Put your cursor between the bracketed text, and right click>paste.

4) The image URL is now between the bracketed bits of text.

5) Now preview your post to check it worked!

If you'd rather not use flickr etc, you can do the same as the above but using pics in the Gallery. Just click through to see the large version, then follow the instructions above.

Doing it that way violates the Flickr TOS and risks having your account closed. All photos 'hotlinked' from Flickr have to link back to the Flickr page. So the final code would have to be

[ url=the flickr page for the image][ img]image url[/ img][/ url]

(take spaces out of tags)

Either that or use Photobucket, which doesn't require a link back.
