All Pentax cameras after the K1 series support SDM besides the K100D super and the K10D which also support SDM.

I can confirm that Power Zoom doesn't work at all with the K-m, no idea about the K-x. I assume that the contacts are only there for SDM therefore.
Found this out by buying a fairly cheap example of the 28-80mm PZ lens. Slightly annoying that PZ doesn't work but hey, it's a nice enough lens, reasonably sharp and with pleasingly chunky controls.

If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

i have another question regarding this camera
i am confused (easily done) regarding the autofocuss points or lack of.
Cant you just set it to centre focus and take it that this is the area it is then focussing in.Just read a review and he said it was a bad move not to put auto focuss points on as you cant tell where the focuss is so he was getting oof shots!!.But seeing how i only use centre focuss would this be a problem.
Sorry if i am rambling.

Also if you use selective focus points, you can see on the LCD screen which focus point is selected only when it's on automatic you've no AF indication but you can use ur eye to see what's in focus.

With my Pentax K-X, I have set autofocus to the centre point and now know that this is where it focuses. I soon got used to it.
My SDM lenses work fine with the K-X

Roy,
Like Graham, I use centre point on the Kx, works fine - as does the 50-135 which is SDM.

I like a native light and the Pentax K-x allows me to take some pictures with it. I think that this camera has the best sensor in the Pentax K product line. What a pity, Pentax reduced some interest and important functions and connectors, which donīt have a major effect in the factory price ... Didnīt want to be a rival for his K-7.
Implementation of body isnīt importance such as waterproof, material, ergonomic etc., but vice versa - a function possibilities are important.
What a pity, if the Pentax wouldnīt reduce this features
then the K-x would jump very high his rivals and the K-x would be a strong progress in the entry level category.
