I've just bought a Sigma 150-500 with OS, when used in auto is there any menu to turn off the shake reduction on the camera, as this option not available on the menu when in auto, I've turned it off in the other menus, or can i use both the OS and shake reduction together in auto.

Don't use both.

That aside, what do you mean, 'auto'? If you mean Green mode, you can't switch SR off.

The whole point about Green mode is that the camera chooses the settings. A lot less is adjustable in Green mode.

Why would you use it? Program mode is a much more useful fully auto mode, and SR can be switched on or off as you wish.

A quick way of switching SR on or off, by the way, is to use the list of functions available if you press the Info button. Much more convenient than the menus.

Thanks for your reply I've been using it in manual but was trying it out in green mode, being new to dslr, if all else fails read their manual, so I am going to start setting it in program mode, it takes quite a while to understand all the settings and after being used to 1960 film cameras its amazing how complex these new cameras are, can you suggest any training videos or books on pentax cameras.

Well there are a gazillion hits on YouTube if you search for 'Pentax K-5', but they aren't really training videos.

There are the Magic Lantern Guides, but there doesn't seem to be one for the K-5 yet, and as far as I can tell, they seem to be mostly more beginner-suited versions of the manual (and not the whole manual either, by the sound of it).

You could do a lot worse than sitting down with the manual, Google for the words you don't understand, and then do lots of experimenting and asking questions here when you get stuck.
