I agree with this. The rear AF button is very good indeed. I have it programmed for use in one of my user modes, but I agree the half press focus habit is hard to break

But it's not a "habit" - it's a very efficient way to work. Habit implies an unthinking response of little value, which wouldn't be right.

A habit doesn't necessarily have to have little value.

You may have gathered by now, that I am a supporter of FF. However I had to turn of this idiotic video before the end.
I don't think it is even worth while to comment on any of the individual claims made.

No offence taken, Stuey. And maybe a timely reminder to what it could be like for my poor students

ok guys what if...
would anybody care if it was FF or aps if....
Pentax brought out an LX-D...
combining ricoh's modular system with penatx's d-slr and k-01 designs...
digital back... apsc sensor.. or ff sensor
OPTIONAL mirror box module or half silvered mirror module (for waist level finder) or empty module ALL take standard k-mount.
OPTIONAL waist level optical finder... optional pentaprism finder, optional EVF..
Grip, again OPTIONAL wi-fi, gps, with battery holders and second active card slot, and choice between basic module and video shooters extra sound and hdmi ports module....
custom order the way you want, the colors you want, with pro service support and you can order everything seperately...
you could then build it the way you want it... basic mirror less to d-slr, studio stills or pro video and you can break it down and swap out accessories as desired...
would ya buy one? would ya care then if FF or aps?

Don't want optional stuff like Wi-fi or GPS in a grip.

I'm talking a totally modular system.. so you'd opt for the most basic grip without the wi-fi and gpsDon't want optional stuff like Wi-fi or GPS in a grip.
that is my point... buy what you want, snap it together and get the camera you want, no compromises..

It's an interesting idea Don. What I didn't like about the Ricoh modular approach was that over the range of lenses we'd be using different sensors with different formats and different qualities. The single sensor approach gives consistency and that can be very important.
Perhaps a semi-modular approach, in other words not quite so drastic as you envisage, would be the way to make the idea practical?

well it would be nice to go that route. I always take an idea and envision the extreme. It's an interesting idea Don. so I imagine if they come up with something like that it would be a great camera system for pros.

I'd opt for a camera that had GPS ( and Wifi ) in the camera, not in the grip. not keen on grips haven't tried one before

also if it's totally modular then you could see a FF module, and aps-c module effectively making your system future proof for a long time to come.
