Pentax calendar

Why don’t we have a calendar for all, the very best of Pentax photography and get the photographers to donate there shots and then sell them, to rase money for any good real charity?? It’s just there are so many good photos on this site and I feel it’s a shame that only us on the site gets to see them? It’s worth a try.
I for one would buy one what do you all think???

Count me in if anything I produce is deemed printable - I would buy a couple regardless

In principle a good idea . But who will choose the final photographs and organise the printing and distribution etc.
One thing the camera club I'm a member of does, is to choose a local good cause and instead of buying each other Christmas cards we are asked to make a donation I'm sure other clubs must do something similar.

I'm afraid that we can't promote any charities on Pentax User so this can't be promoted on here either. Like many things, in principle a good idea but there are huge practical problems.

There are practical problems, though not insurmountable given the will. But if the site would prefer not to participate the idea is much more difficult to get off the ground. What also counts against it (at least for 2013) is that the idea has surfaced too late. Calendars ideally need to be available in September of any year.

Of course if 'the site' wanted to get behind a charity project and make it official, it could do so. If not, I guess such a project could be discussed here, in terms of getting the pictures together (just like we would talk about an external competition), but not promoted as such. For the running of it, and I would suggest, voting on the final picture selection, perhaps a small external site could be set up?
