I have 4 original Pentax batteries for my K-5, one for the camera, one for the grip and 2 spares. I got them all out to charge up and noticed one had a serial number on the top while the other 3 did not.

Looks ok to me but was just wondering if anyone else had a serial number on their battery?

We have a total of five K-5 batteries and just two of them have similar codes to the one you picture.

I have no idea what the significance of that is, apart from us having two K-5 cameras, so maybe they were the originals that came with the camera.

In any event all the batteries were proper Pentax ones sourced via SRS, so I don't suspect anything untoward.
Best regards, John

The Pentax battery that came with my K7 does not have a serial number! (one of the 'NOs' in the poll)

I have 2 Pentax batteries

One has 201109 on it the other blank

K5 bought form SRS at Christmas so Mattmatic is probably correct.

I also have one 'clone' which has no codeing on it but looks as if it was moulded on the same machine. The 'clone' and the Pentax batteries both have TIAC stamped into the plastic on the end opposite the terminals.

Bernard

I guessed that, was just wondering why some had it on and others didn't.

You could have put the whole number, it's unlikely someone is going to use a battery date for anything sinister

Are you sure?

Actually it is 201101 (camera purchased 05/2011, oh no I've given too much away :wink but I couldn't check as it was sitting on the charger as I wrote and I didn't want to interrupt it!
